The 30 second promo

I just saw the first episode and there was a big 0, nadda, nothing, waste of energy making the show.

NCIS nomatter where located is about the military.

Those who work NCIS should show empathy to those in the military.

What's her face, head of Hawaii's unit, has nothing of authentic persona for the role.

I also never caew for NCIS LA and the New Orleans was just soso.

Thoughts.

1. Dead marine in the park
2. Gather clues.
3. Inter team fun conflict.
4. Inter team serious conflict.
5. Interview someone who knew the victim and the actor/actress is a known actor.
6. Forensics finds a clue.
7. Turns out any introduced known actor is the killer.
8. Add a little to the season overall plot.

Pretty much sums up NCIS.

The SoCOs as they used to be called (scene of crime officers) who gather evidence in UK turn up in goggles, facemask, paper hooded overalls and disposable overshoes so as not to contaminate the crime scene. These twats rock up in stylish suits, high heels and with women's hair blowing in the wind.
Would love a realistic version where they analyse what they find at the crime scene and discover the entire CSI team are implicated by the forensic evidence.

I also love the "CBS ORIGINAL' tag attached to it- original in the sense its an exact rip off any of the other NCIS and CSI Shows that have gone before except with grass skirts

I detest these shows with a fucking vengeance.
"I want a complete range of blood tests done on these samples. When will they be ready?"
"Oh in about 2 and a half weeks"
"You've got 2 hours"
"OK, boss!"
FFS. Its all shit like that. One of the worst episodes I saw was that ginger twat Caruso doing a prisoner transfer ffs. Because that's what you do with your highly trained science guys and gals, have them escorting bloody prisoners.
And there's been a surge in forensic science applications at uni across the world because stupid teenagers think it's REALLY like that in real life.
They are all absolutely shit.

How many saw the first episode? How far off am I, is the hrad of the Hawaii unit seem like something other than a woman who would care about the military.

At least Gibbs, did. Mark Harmon's father Tom was a WWII fighter pilot and hero, thus making Mark's personna I believe more real.

I share your dislike for these procedural shows. There are way too many of them on the air in my view.

It's not TV programmes being formulaic that's the problem. If the show is crap, being formulaic might rub it in. Plenty of great shows are formulaic. Diagnosis Murder is a personal favourite.

There are plenty of long running formalistic TV shows, so that isn't the problem. It is having good writing and characters that bring you back for more. Just spinning off another show from a franchise doesn't mean it will be good.

OK my plot predictions are
Someone strangled with a lei
Someone suffocated with a grass skirt
Someone bludgeoned to death with a coconut
Someone killed at the Arizona memorial

Plus I wonder how many Hawaiian things will actually be in the show. Like the rivalry between natives and outsiders. At least Magnum mentioned that from time to time. Same with 5-0 (old one).

Nothing beats Jack Lord's Steve McGarrett balcony turn, where you think they have frozen the picture but, like the legendary pro he was, Jack has just held the pose and then you spot his kiss curl blowing majestically in the wind, as the most awesome theme tune ever bestowed upon man kind penetrates your subconscious for the next 47 years and you remember your first sight of a fish eye lens used on jet engine and a hula dancer seen from below the waistline and an outrigger canoe cutting through the surf with an epic drum beat powering them through the waves and the 6 year old you thinks " life NEVER gets any better than THIS!!!!!! " and then tragically you turn 53, the world is in the toilet and you realise that the 1974 you was absolutely right.

Plus 5-0 had some pretty good chloro scenes. Was a treasure trove of them. Flat out had two in the intro to two episodes.

Did anyone like the Hawaii 5-0 reboot that came out in 2010? Looking it up, I was stunned to learn it lasted for 10 seasons while the original series lasted for 12 seasons, both remarkable runs. Of all the fictional dramas to debut in the 60's, the original Hawaii 5-0 was the last series standing from all of the shows that debut in the decade of the 60's. A little more trivia, they tried to do a reboot of Hawaii 5-0 in the late 90's and shot a pilot with Gary Busey in a starring role, but the pilot never sold.

Yeah the reboot starred Athena/Boomer girl from Battle Star Galactica next gen. There's been a whole lot of shows I never knew existed. Like a show about a rural sheriff with Starbuck from BSG-NG.

I've watched both versions of Hawaii 5-0, but still prefer the original. Nothing beats the last scene of the original with Wo-Fat in prison smiling as he pulled out a file. But both are great examples of procedurals where they were still interesting because of the characters and not the plots.

That was called Longmire and she (Katy Sackhoff) was a Sherriffs deputy so not the lead. Lou Diamond Phillips was a native American /first people/ Indian who helped the Sheriff. It wasn't bad that ran for 4 or 5 seasons..

But yeah 5-0 original was the best.
