Im posting this because it comes from a time when all our female heroes were rampant either doing their own shows or doing shows like the Love Boat.

It was a great time for television, when you could settle in and watch hours of great programming on any given night.

Not to mention he was also really funny in the Mary Tyler Moore Show :)

Pretty nifty feat for McLeod, getting that second act on Love Boat after the legendary Mary Tyler Moore. I share your love for those 70's and 80's light, escapist, TV fare, where the weight of the world didn't weigh on every show. Many of the shows of that era were fun to watch.

agree 100%
Such are promises
All lies and jest
Still, a man hears what he wants to hear
And disregards the rest Simon & Garfunkel

Never thought I'd live to see the day Love Boat got described as 'great programming' but these are strange times, 😂
It was good family fare and for us youthful lads had girls in bikinis so it ticked a lot of boxes.

It was strange reading 'dead at 90' as normally such exclamations are saved for young deaths in Europe.

He had a long life and touched a lot of lives with his work which is a nice legacy to leave
How strange are the ways of the gods ...........and how cruel.

I am here to help one and all enjoy this site, so if you have any questions or feel you are being trolled please contact me (Hit the 'CONTACT' little speech bubble below my Avatar).

Ahhh, the golden age of Jiggle TV. Back when male executives could cast female actresses to be captured and tied up repeatedly on every other episode of Fantasy Island, Wonder Woman, Dukes of Hazzard, Fall guy and Charlie’s Angels. Love Boat never provided scenes like that, but if Markie Post was going a cruise, you could damn well bet she was going to at least wear a bikini in the episode.

Gavin McLeod was a good comic actor and lucky to get on two hit shows.
