[SOLVED]Image issues?

I am just puzzling over an issue I keep seeing and I am struggling to figure where the problem is!

I have several stories, image based, on the forum. In the past when I set up images for my stories you could click on the first one (to enlarge it) and then click on the image to one side and basically "slide show" my way through. However, at the moment I am finding that while my images are there they are either;

LIST EDITED 10/3/2020 after more experience with the problem.

1)un-clickable and fixed in their small size
2)or sometimes one or two are randomly clickable from within a series.
3)I notice that if it is a thread I have not been to before since this glitch began the images usually load up and are clickable - but - refresh the page one or two times and they become un-clickable forever ie, reboots / closing browsers / logging out etc does not clear it.
5)A cookie reset does not seem to fix the issue
6)Talking with another user they observe the same issue
7) I suspect my image host is not the issue - for example a test run on Bluestone's section in the forum, a few refreshes / leaving / returning to their behind the scenes thread rendered their images the same.

Sometimes if I find one image that is clickable I can use the forward/back arrows to slideshow my way through - and then sometimes it is leaping beyond images that don't seem to have loaded in. On my PC it affects various browsers Chrome / IE / Firefox. Also the same on my iPad (initially thought it was unaffected but in reality was as part of 3 in the list above).

As all the images are there in their regular form I am guessing my image host is sending the images over, so, is it the site not behaving, or a browser issue, or something else?

just as an update - my iPad experience was a fluke, the same happens on there - and the image host doesn't seem to matter.

You can understand we all want to present our work in the best way possible and with the slideshow feature being unreliable I'm not able to do that right now.

Let's see what MH comes with.

I am aware you have been doing updates during the almost global lockdown of humanity - is there any word on this topic too? I am looking forward to updating my story the moment Lightbox returns!

Sure, like below.

Basically, the very first time you visit one of these threads you can click on the images and they EXPAND into the window and you can see them more or less as I intended them to be seen. Clicking either side of the EXPANDED IMAGE allows you to advance or go back, one frame at a time like a slideshow. Since the big update HOWEVER - after one or two REFRESHes though you can NEVER see the EXPANDED image EVER AGAIN!! -they just stay as the small image on the page. As you can imagine, now that Ive gone to the trouble of doing transition wipes between scenes, seeing those frames being just flat and quite small is ... a little underwhelming. I think you attributed the problem to being something to do with "Lightbox" ? All I know is, after visiting a thread more than a couple of times I cannot click an image and make it expand to fill the screen any more.
