Figured I'd make a thread for the winter Con events.

We started out with our first appearance at Pittsburgh Freaky Fair, a twice-annual gathering of dark oddities and curiosities which has been going on for five years in the area. This year, it's been located in two floors of a large empty storefront in a shopping complex called South Side Works, which is in the middle of the city, so there's lots of nearby walkup and attractions. It wasn't quite as well attended as the spring edition (so I'm told), and this might have been because people were already "Halloweened out" from the previous weekend, but there was still enough of a steady crowd for us to garner a bunch of new fans of the comicbook and video series.

As usual, our table was shared with the comic books The Edge and MusicMaker (created by our actress Mauricia, who plays Vendetta). We tried our best to make sure anyone who came up to the table got an equal presentation for all three comics, and this worked several times. Heroineburgh Comics #1 sold another two dozen copies over the two-day span.

On Saturday, X-Machina (portrayed by Serra) patrolled the fair, using her magnetic powers (actually, her equally magnetic personality) to promote the comic and put it in many people's hands. Below, you can see X-Machina making friends with Frank the food vendor, who makes a mean gyro, and a young actor from Los Angeles named Milo Stein, who was the star of a premiere at the Pittsburgh Shorts Festival playing nearby at the South Side Works Cinema. Milo is a new fan of Heroineburgh and was very happy to meet X-Machina and get the comic.

X-Machina also made friends with Monster D, who appears at every Con that he possibly can, drawing caricatures of attendees and wearing his costume which includes a black hat, black cap, and a utility belt full of Sharpie markers. Monster D decorated the box X-Machina is holding.

Then on Sunday, Vendetta the Italian spirit of vengeance (Mauricia) and slinky sexy super-thief Sintilla (Alicia) came to blows in front of the booth trying to prove who is the finest mistress of deadly combat. Sintilla lashed out with her signature rubber fetish paddles (with her strength, they hurt quite a bit!) while Vendetta countered with her silver escrima sticks. Luckily, no civilians in the area were injured in the melee, and more comic books flew off the table and into people's eager mitts.

We'll definitely be back for future Freaky Fairs - what an exciting atmosphere, dancing to 90s goth club music and watching circus performers including an amazing stilt man. We talked with a circus performer named Leah who may be appearing in a future episode.

Now on to the December events: Steel City Con and our first trip to New York: Big Apple Con at the New Yorker Hotel. Can't wait to post about them here!

First day of Steel City Con Dec 2019 went by in a flash.

Vendetta (Mauricia) and X-Machina (Serra) were at the booth drawing in fans.

We sold 10 comics and our booth partner, Marvin from The Edge comics, did well - among other things, he sold an entire run of his issues 1 through 9.
X-Machina was especially vibrant, walking around and displaying our comic to everyone walking in the vendor hall aisles. When people stop and ask her who her character is, she launches into her spiel for Heroineburgh. Brilliant!

X-Machina's travels resulted in us meeting a fabulous Atlanta-based jewelry who goes under the name Rayguns and Rust. Her government name, however, is Janet Gerard, and she's the wife of the famous Gil Gerard (of Buck Rogers in the 25th Century). Janet gave us two bejeweled bracelets which look like the rainbow-colored Infinity Stones, and we're going to add them to Spectrina's multi-colored costume in the next episode. We can't wait to hear what Gil Gerard thinks of the Heroineburgh comic book! Here's Janet, dammit.

Thanks batgirl1969! Unfortunately, Sintilla couldn't make it to Steel City Con yesterday as scheduled - she had serious migraines and needed to get some rest. However, we still celebrated the great article that came out about her in a local paper which talked about her go-go dancing career - she makes a living as a professional go-go dancer in Pittsburgh!

So we still had a fantastic time at Day 2 of Steel City Con, moving a dozen more copies of Heroineburgh Comics #1.
And representing us at the booth and throughout the Con floor were three more heroines:
- Darbouka, the sound blaster
- Gardenia, the queen of the plant world
- Arctica, the mistress of the frost

Here are some memories from the day. We've included a handful of 'kinkier' photos that didn't go on our regular social media.

Red carpet photo - left to right: Darbouka (Tiffany), Gardenia (Laura D) and Arctica (Bridget). See our Youtube channel for the message from the Con!

Carmen Electra ran into the audience to take questions during her Q&A panel. She seemed very excited and thankful to be there
talking to several hundred people. She was wearing an amazing tight black leather outfit in a sort of Black Canary style.

Gardenia restrains the Sock Monkey with her vines. Sock Monkey wouldn't say anything - he stayed mute and in character the whole time.
But as you can see, he enjoyed his brief bondage time with the green superheroine.

The vivacious Gardenia and the statuesque Arctica pose in the aisle near the Heroineburgh booth. Many people stopped in their tracks
to talk with them and take photos. We asked people taking the photos to hashtag their post with #Heroineburgh.

Another kinky moment happened when a woman came by leading a Christmas elf by his leash. The woman relinquished the leash and let
Arctica take the reins for a photo.

An ice cream company called SubZero was the scene of some shenanigans by Arctica, as she used her superpowers to create a serving of
instant frozen treats. Her breath has the cold temperature of liquid nitrogen!

Looks great fun and your ladies look lovely.

Ooo Carmen Electra! Loved her in the black spiderman outfit she wore (far too briefly alas) in that 300 spoof (which was crap, apart from that)
How strange are the ways of the gods ...........and how cruel.

I am here to help one and all enjoy this site, so if you have any questions or feel you are being trolled please contact me (Hit the 'CONTACT' little speech bubble below my Avatar).

The sock monkey lol...so it doesnt look.like he is TOO excited otherwise it would really be...um...standing out! lol. its guys like him that I LOVE to mess with at cons and do kinky stuf with, seems like it is always a spiderman or deadpool but with costumes like that it leaves very little to the imagination and when they get turned on, it is VERY embarrasing for them lol....love when they "Spill" the water bottle to cover their excitement!! too bad I missed this con

No more sock monkeys yesterday, but a lot of other cool stuff at the final day of Steel City Con. All three of our Heroineburgh ladies in attendance participated in the various cosplay judge panels. We sold another 10 comic books and even a Spectrina magnet (we got a new display board for them). And we departed feeling really good about renewing our table in the same excellent high-traffic location (right near the food vendors and the bathrooms). We'll be back in April with a new episode and hopefully Issue 2 of the comic.

Check out some of the action below.

Vendetta was back but this time in her civilian form as Mauricia. She is the creator of the comic book Music Maker (with art by a Mexican
comic book artist) and was selling copies of her #1 issue, as well as ashcan versions of #2, at our table. People responded favorably to the concept of her comic which features a music soundtrack you can download via VR codes!

In the photo with her is our perpetual table partner Marvin, who creates the 90s-style action comic book The Edge, now going on its 10th issue. If you like Claremont X-Men and 90s Image and Wildstorm titles it's the book for you. He did well at the Con, and we'll be going to New York City together next weekend for Big Apple Con as well.

Here are Sarah as Cybrina and PJ as our new Arcana. Sarah is in our new Episode 16 and does a superb acting job, especially in expressing her perilous situation trapped in a Pac-Man video game!

Both were vivacious and very active in taking photos for fans and passersby. As you can see PJ is quite voluptuous and is eager to use that to her advantage in the costume. She'll be debuting in Episode 18, to be filmed in early 2020, which will feature the return of the goth superhero team Dark Dominion, of which Arcana is the co-leader. Arcana will discover that not only can she control shadows, but she also has a new exciting superpower which makes her very useful in covert situations.

There were plenty of great cosplays at the Con - as you might imagine, the place was overrun with Mandalorians and DIY versions of baby Yoda, plus a couple of Batwomen. But this costume made us stop and take notice, because it was the only one we saw which referenced this amazing TV series that everyone on this forum probably loves: Starlight from The Boys!

Steph plays Dysphoria, the dominatrix of decay, and PJ once again as Arcana, sovereign of shadows. They are very good friends and also neighbors. So they will work very well together on film in Episode 18 - can't wait to make that happen!

One more post as we have enough photos for it.

Dysphoria gives us her usual saucy stare while judging the k*ds category at the cosplay contest. Winner was a gender-flipped Edward Scissorhands.

The vendor next to us cleared out a few hours early to attend his son's birthday party, so we were able to set up a photo area so fans could take shots. Several took the opportunity, including a quite persistent Wolverine who gave us a free pass to a strip club. Here, Cybrina and Dysphoria assume their power poses, ready for action.

Arcana concentrates on her judging task during the adult cosplay contest which was very hard-fought. The final 10 on stage all had super elaborate costumes with tons of horns and other headgear. At the top of my list were an elaborate Krampus and an amazing Rita Repulsa, but I didn't stick around long enough to find out who won.

Look very closely and you can see a candy cane with quite fortunate placement. Arcana is going to be quite the naughty superheroine!

Youtube clips for the three days. Arcana was onstage judging while we took the Day 3 vid. In case anyone was wondering about Sintilla's whereabouts, she was unfortunately sick and couldn't make it, but she is feeling better now! We will also post another solo clip with Arctica soon.

Sorry we won't see you but hope you have lots of fun in DC!

Greyhound is horrible. The bus had a bathroom door that kept swinging open like it was haunted. The bus kept stopping for inordinately long periods of time, and then we had a long wait to switch buses in Philly. And finally it arrived over two hours late (aroud 6:30 pm instead of 4 pm) making it impossible for us to efficiently make the rounds of the three or four comic shops we wanted to visit (especially two in Brooklyn that we wanted to see). We'll have to come back and spend a whole day in NYC doing nothing but making those rounds.

So then we got to the Con, and some of the bigger dealers had tons of their boxes covering some of the tables of the artists in Artists Alley. We met the Con manager, who welcomed us (he had met us initially at Pulp Fest in Cranberry PA), but he said that because of all those boxes we would have to set up first thing in the morning. So we left our stuff there under our table, and on the way to the hotel, we did stop at one comics shop (one of the best ones on our list!) and dropped off samples. We'll contact them on Monday when we get home, and see if they want some copies (chances are high - they had a huge selection of indie books and were very friendly and helpful).

The New Yorker Hotel where the Con is held is super fancy and way too expensive to stay in. The hallways and ballrooms are full of exceptionally beautiful people sipping champagne and nibbling on hors d'oeuvres, and the scene looks a lot like some high-society Gotham City function from the set of Batwoman. It's almost hilarious juxtaposing several rooms of full comic book geeks and cosplayers in comparison to that.

The hotel we stayed at, however, is really funky and artsy with lots of character, somewhat like the Chelsea but lesser known. Every room is filled with intricate handmade art by local artists, and the hallways are hand decorated by various artists as well. There's even a gallery open during the day which changes exhibits monthly.

The floor we stayed on had a Egyptian theme, and here are some of the photos. It occurred to us that it might be great location to film a superheroine video: for example, maybe O Mighty Isis who is trapped in the Egyptian underworld, and there is a perilous villain behind every door!

We'll report from the Con floor after tomorrow, and let you know how it went. Especially looking forward to meeting Billy Tucci, the creator of Shi, who has a new crowdfunded book out.

We met Billy Tucci, got his autograph on a Shi comic, and we'll be hooking up with him soon for a Crowdfunding Comics livestream. We also got a Dawn graphic novel signed by Joseph Michael Linsner, a Modern Fantasy comic signed by Henchgirl creator Kristen Gudsnuk, a 'Mazing Man comic signed by Bob Rozakis, and Spell Warriors signed by Indian artist Dheeraj Varma, as well as a funny parody comic called "Hot Girl and Totally Hot Girl." Neal Adams and Jim Steranko were there, and we talked to them, but their offerings were a bit expensive.

Sold about 15 comics, which is about the same as we'd do on a Saturday at Steel City Con. But the trip was definitely worth it, not just for Tucci but also for meeting the organizers of the Con who were very nice and helpful, and introduced us to the manager of a Con south of Pittsburgh willing to bring us in as guests (i.e. no table fees). That's a first, and we hope to build on that. Also hope to come back to New York City soon! Big Apple Con is recommended.

Here are some random photos from the Con that were taken by my table partner Marvin (I didn't bring a camera - didn't want my equipment to be at risk).

Heroineburgh ended up the year with an appearance by Arctica (Bridget) at the Solstice concert called Moving Shadows.

Unexpectedly, our long-time actress Emily (who still plays Fianna - she has scenes coming in EP17 that we've already filmed), who spends most of the year in Los Angeles now, also showed up to hang out with us for a while, looking as lovely as ever!

Now it's time to hunker down and do more filming (we had 3 film shoots in Dec, so we need to do 3 more in Jan/Feb to finish EP17)
and also to finish writing the second comic book issue.
