Re: Zoe Kravitz cast as Catwoman for Matt Reeves' Batman
I just looked at 5 different pics of her and she wasnt smiling in any of them
Doesnt exactly grab me from the pics, no real wow factor for me. Maybe because she looks so moody. Can tell a lot from a smile

Re: Zoe Kravitz cast as Catwoman for Matt Reeves' Batman
At first I was going to be all like, "Dude not every woman has to smile all the time!" but then I googled her and the image search was like, nope, no smiles here, not now, not ever. Course then I just googled 'Zoe Kravitz smiling' and that solved it. Definitely wouldn't kick her out of bed for eating crackers but not having seen her in anything before so not really able to gauge what she's all about.
I'm not enthusiastic to be honest, but there's so many directions they can go with the character the casting doesn't mean much right now.
Prolly get rebooted by the time they've done filming it anyway.
Re: Zoe Kravitz cast as Catwoman for Matt Reeves' Batman
Never heard of her
But I have no desire to see a Twilight Batman and that actor is so bad he may make Hayden Christopher or Peter Calpaldi look good

Re: Zoe Kravitz cast as Catwoman for Matt Reeves' Batman
I've heard Pattinson is pretty good in The Lighthouse.
I'm not going to hold it against him that he was in some presumably shitty movies I'd sure as fuck never watch. Sort of money he must have made doing them doesn't bear thinking about. Can't imagine anybody here would turn it down because they're not a fan of sparkly vampires.
Besides, playing Batman is a piece of cake, especially for a guy with his jawline. It's the jawline that does 95% of the work, the rest is special effects. Hell Michael Keaton was the best Batman in decades and he couldn't move in the suit. It's playing Bruce Wayne that's tricky.

I've never heard of this actress. I'm also not impressed by her looks.
I don't have any faith in the DCU. It needs a total reboot and it just started. That's the sad part. DC is all over the damn place but that's a topic in itself.

I hope Zoe can act since I'm not getting strong positive vibes from any of her head shots. The lips seem to say Catwoman at least. We'll see. Same thing with Pattinson. DC has to put out some kick ass trailers to sell this reboot.

Re: Zoe Kravitz cast as Catwoman for Matt Reeves' Batman
Lenny Kravitz' daughter (I'm pretty sure). ('who that?' will say a number of people!)
She was in one of the X-men movies. Think she had wings. Was the first one I think with the new actors for Prof X, Magneto, and Jennifer Lawrence Mystique. X-men First Class was the title if I remember right. I suppose I could google!
She's also been in the latest Harry Potter world Fantastic Beast movies. She's alright.
I remember championing Anne as Catwoman in Nolan movies while many others ragged on her... until the movie came out. I know less about Zoe, but she'll probably be fine. No idea what to expect from new Batman movie.
Affleck was OK but the crap writing of his Batman (and Justice League) weighed him down along with practically everyone else. Altho Gal Gadot was a light in all the movies, but most especially her own cause that was better written than the others.
<-- little known fact: I made this lynda1 smilie for the forum!

Re: Zoe Kravitz cast as Catwoman for Matt Reeves' Batman
You guys are pretty young in here not to know who she is. Or I'm just that damn old!! LOL!!! Zoe is Lenny Kravitz's daughter with Lisa Bonet, whom is now married to Jason Mamoa. She usually takes supporting and sometimes art house roles, but did a really solid turn in Pretty Little Lies. Being a pretty big fan of Lenny, and growing watching The Cosby show, she [Zoe] has always garnered my attention in a kind of "Holy Shit! I remember when she was born!!!" type of affection. LOL!!! Anyway... I don't think she will bring shame to the character but, IMO, she's got a hell of a job making Pattison look interesting. I think he got the job of Bruce Wayne/Batman because the role has seen too many actors' iterations with only two good performances in Keaton and Bale. To me, all Batman projects are a mockery, if only because it's trying to please everyone, but never will.

GOD, I would love to see her portray the Eartha Kitt Catwoman with a strapped down batgirl to a table saw, getting all catty and lezzie on her as she taunts her like Kitt did to Yvonne....wow!!!! she will be a very sexy catwoman if they give her the black shiny latex treatment

No origin story? You mean I don't get to see a radioactive bat bite Bruce Wayne just before his planet explodes and he rockets into space only to land on Earth in the lair of a magical wizard who grants him super powers when he says a phrase once routinely uttered by Gomer Pyle? I'm crushed!
Re: Zoe Kravitz cast as Catwoman for Matt Reeves' Batman
I'm hoping for a remake of the 1960s Batman film where he and Robin face off against the Joker, Penguin, Riddler, and Catwoman. Updating the fight sequence on top of the submarine would be great.

Re: Zoe Kravitz cast as Catwoman for Matt Reeves' Batman
Hmh, don't know her, don't know what to think of it.
Ok, I'm not thrilled about her on first impression.
Most of it will depend on screenplay and costume.
Perhaps she will make a great cat burglar, hard to tell now.
Guess I'm just sad that they didn't pick one of my favorites like Kate Beckinsale, she is already used to wear catsuits
Also I think it is strange that they "only" considered black women for the role.
Seems like they now have a draw before each casting to decide what skin color they want for what role (like in the Birds of Prey movie).
It seems so random.

Re: Zoe Kravitz cast as Catwoman for Matt Reeves' Batman
I lost all interest in the project once Affleck quit.
And the fellatio of Matt Reeves feels like studio manufactured hype -- to me he seems like a solid producer of other people's pablum.
I'm sure it'll all turn out fine, but I just can't find any interest in Brexited DC films.

Re: Zoe Kravitz cast as Catwoman for Matt Reeves' Batman
Let's not forget: Zoe already played Catwoman in a movie.
This one...
And already has an action figure.
Yep, she's a Superhero movie veteran.
X-Men: First Class (Angel)
The Lego Batman Movie (Catwoman)
Spider-man: Into The Spider-Verse (Mary Jane Watson)
https://screenrant.com/batman-movie-zoe ... ises-most/
And I barely remember her in any of them! But that's what you want, an actor to disappear into their roles.

Re: Zoe Kravitz cast as Catwoman for Matt Reeves' Batman
The people who are responsible for casting have the job for a reason, and at times can make really inspired choices that on the outset just don't seem right to the fans. Look at Heath Ledger in Dark Knight. Some people were like "that cute guy, from a Knights Tale?" , but damn, didn't it work out?!

Re: Zoe Kravitz cast as Catwoman for Matt Reeves' Batman
You can't always tell in advance whether an actor can prepare and train before filming to become the role. Some are willing to do the work even if it's in a genre that they never have worked in like romantic or comic actor doing an action film.
An extreme example was Chris Farley training for months to learn martial arts for "Beverly Hills Ninja" so he could do the fight scenes properly in what was a comedy. Based on his past films you wouldn't have considered him an action hero.

Re: Zoe Kravitz cast as Catwoman for Matt Reeves' Batman
I'll give her a chance, but I think what will literally break or make this version of catwoman for me, would be the costume. If its not a black formfitting catsuit, I'm out. I liked Anna hathaway's costume, it was modern but still sexy. only problem with dark knight's catwoman was that she got little screen time in the costume. If she got two or three more scenes in it, it would have been much appreciated, or at the very least a modest photoset of promotional pictures. Catwoman is dangerous, complex, confident, and sexy. Her allure is her attitude and her costume, she needs both.

I have one reservation: Zoe Kravitz is not a talented actor, or at least has not shown herself to be.

She looks expressionless in most of the online photos of her I've seen. She doesn't look enthused by anything she does at all, and that kinda gives off an infectious apathy

Re: Zoe Kravitz cast as Catwoman for Matt Reeves' Batman
So, it's 3AM here and time to go to bed after 8 hours of DC Fandome :
But here is the first loooong teaser for The Batman!
The director told that only 25% of the movie was shot so far....
...and the Selina isn't Catwoman at the beginning of the movie yet.
So, I guess we can see her real Catwoman outfit in a couple of months.

Re: Zoe Kravitz cast as Catwoman for Matt Reeves' Batman
Some more thoughts from me about the teaser and the movie:
Before the teaser director Matt Reves talked about the movie and his vision on it.
Seems like he is very focused to make his own unique version of Batman, that is as much different than the version we saw so far.
That is not a bad thing, even I think he might have overdone it a little with some designs (Batman costume, Batmobile).
Of course that can only finally be judged when the movie is finally out in the theaters.
-
He also mentioned that they shoot only 25% of the movie so far and that Catwoman ...isn't Catwoman at the beginning of the movie.
Well, I really hope that she will become Catwoman with a stunning catsuit and everything as early as possible in the movie.
After watching all season of Gotham I have enough of watching Selina becoming Catwoman (very slowly) ;-)
Knowing how little was filmed so far, this teaser is highly unusual. Normally such a teaser would be only 30-60 seconds, and normally they would include scenes from the whole movie as they often are finished with the shooting more or less.
(trailer can be found above this post already)
-
Well, I am thrilled and worried at the same time about this one.
I never saw any movie with Robert Pattinson except the first Twilight movie, and that was a long time ago.
I will watch newer movies of him like "Swiss Army Men" and "The Lighthouse" in the next weeks.
So far I'm not thrilled by how he looks as Bruce Wayne...

...a solid hair cut would help for starters ;-)
But well, perhaps he will change and evolve during the movie as he is only in his second year as Batman.
Slowly I get more used to his Batsuit:

It is very different from the ones we know so far from the movies. Will be interesting to see it in action.
-
The teaser offers a great, dark atmosphere with a good soundtrack in my opinion.
Gotham is a here a really dark place... in several ways.
And that fits perfectly!
-
We get to see an early version of Catwoman in the trailer:

A cat burglar has to do what a cat burglar does best!
-

Thats an....odd....mask!
-

....but you see some small cat ears already!
-
That is certainly a very...."special" cut of a ski mask! It looks very much homemade, but it's a solid disguise at least.
Certainly that is a first, primitive version of her Catwoman outfit. Please let her get her real Catwoman suit and cowl as soon as possible in the movie!!!
I am a little afraid she presents that in the final moments of the movie as she disappears into the night. And then a new Batman movie comes out with a complete new storyline and we might never see her again in the real Catwoman outfit. -------- #nightmare
It will be very interesting how Batman and Catwoman and their alter-ego will come along in this movie. In the teaser Batman wants to stop Catwoman, so they fight each other!
But how will they find out who is hiding underneath these masks? Will they work together at some point in the movie somehow? Some pictures form the set point in that direction.
From the teaser it is impossible to judge how Zoe Kravitz will fit into that role.
Well, I hope we will get more pictures and info in the next months when filming finally continues!
Especially looking forward to more Catwoman pictures and the first glimpse on the villains of the movie (Riddler, Penguin)!

Re: Zoe Kravitz cast as Catwoman for Matt Reeves' Batman
Here is the 2nd trailer from the DC Fandome today:
-
Yeah, I am thrilled for it, but not really because of Catwoman.
Zoe Kravitz with that short haircut and the fact that she seemingly only will have such a raw, unsexy first makeshift costume...with a really ugly mask.....doesn't get me much excited for her Catwoman part.
But well, looking forward to seeing it in about half a year.
This can be a really good Batman movie.

But well, looking forward to seeing it in about half a year.
This can be a really good Batman movie.

I don't know what trailer you saw but I thought she looked pretty extravagantly hot

Well, the scenes with the boots and fishnets was sexy, but that was "just" Selina.Damselbinder wrote: ↑7 months ago

Yeah, she is only becoming Catwoman in this one....but from what I have seen so far.... her Catwoman won't hunt me in my dreams.
I hope that she will have a real costume by the end of the movie.

San Francisco tour guide: Come check out the City by the Bay. Crime here has been practically legalized (but our mayor has sternly told criminals not to steal, so it's only a matter of time before crime abates).lionbadger wrote: ↑7 months agoDirector: where will we ever find a nightmarishly dark city with an insanely out of control crime problem and villainous mutants running amok to shoot the new batman

Just a little harmless commentary. I don't see much else can be added for this thread at this point, at least not a few months from now when more is released.

Lighten up Francis. You consistently seem like you’re trying to pick a fight. I was done after that last post. You don’t always have to come across as someone spoiling for a pointless online fight.Damselbinder wrote: ↑7 months agoThen that's a failure of imagination on your part.sugarcoater wrote: ↑7 months ago Just a little harmless commentary.
