Have you been Shatnerized? Pittsburgh has. We were privileged to experience the first sold-out day at Steel City Con since we've been running our booth there. On Saturday April 13, there were people outside waiting to pay who couldn't get in (unless someone left) because the entire building was at capacity for the fervor over Star Trek (Shatner + Walter Koenig + the Gorn + an actor from Voyager). We caught a good portion of the Shatner panel - the legend was spry and exuberant, pacing the stage and telling his stories. There were also fans there for Lori Petty (Tank Girl), Judge Reinhold, Billy Zane, Dennis O'Hare and many more, including five cast members of The Office (endless Dunder Mifflin T-shirts strolling by).

Cosplay? The usual abundance of Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn, but a definite uptick in the Black Widow and Captain Marvel categories. Our favorite obscure cosplay was the tight silver catsuit and purple wig worn by the main female character from S.H.A.D.O. in the 1960s TV series U.F.O. - talking about reaching back! (yeah, I know, I should've taken a photo)

And...oh yeah, Heroineburgh! We had a great spot this time (just like in December) in the big vendor hall just off the main promenade. The actresses who staffed our booth included our loyal assistant Tao (who will play barbarian villainess Kurgana in an episode this summer) on all three days; Sintilla (Alicia), X-Machina (Serra) and Dysphoria (Stephanie) on Friday; Gardenia (Laura), Zinnia (Mary Beth) and Arctica (Bridget) on Saturday; and Vendetta (Mauricia) and Pagliaccia (Marrita) on Sunday.

We also shared our booth with Marvin Wynn, an amazing writer and creator from Pittsburgh who creates a 90s-style superhero team comic called The Edge (if you like Wildcats, Youngblood, Cyberforce and other Image classics from that era, as well as Claremont's X-Men, you can't go wrong). Marvin had a great time and sold a lot of his titles. The Edge will be 'crossing over' with Heroineburgh by including a cameo of our villain character Mark Drake in their upcoming issue #9. Universes collide!

The newest T-shirt / sticker / banner combo by the always fantastic artist Jason Wright (of DC Comics fame) showcases the villainesses and anti-heroines of the Heroineburgh series, and is thus titled 'Anti-Heroineburgh'. Hundreds of current and prospective fans picked up the stickers, and we sold a handful of T-shirts as well. We also recorded a podcast with Nerdcyclopedia (an interview with yours truly, Shevek) which will be posted in the next couple days - we'll have an announcement about it on our social media if you follow us.

Here are some highlights from the event. Our next Con will be in a month: Three Rivers Con May 11-12 at the Homestead Waterfront in the old Macy's building. We'll be running a movie-theater room which will continuously showcase superhero and sci-fi content, including episodes of Heroineburgh, episodes of Superhero Project (from Australia, helmed by forum poster Ava), and other locally produced content, such as the series Theo and the Professor. All that and the Heroineburgh booth with our characters, plus comic book legends such as Ron Frenz and Robert Hack. We'll post full info on that soon.

Nature's defender Gardenia has captured a mysterious shadowy villain called 'Nobody'. He won't be able to snap her unbreakable vines.

Mischievous villainess Sintilla is probably up to no good despite her penchant for Hulkamania.

Well, I wouldn't say "better" per se, just more crowded. :)
We're still not coming back to Steel City in August (we're going to return in December instead), and focusing more on Three Rivers Comicon next month, where we'll get to show the episodes for two days solid to an audience that only has to pay $10 to get in to the venue. If you have time, see if you can head up for that one instead!

By the way EVS (Comic Artist Pro Secrets) has three videos from the Star Wars Celebration, featuring guest appearances from Fandom Menace folks like Geeks & Gamers, World Class Bullshitters, Jessi Milestone (who just did a livestream with Heroineburgh) and Anna That Star Wars Girl. Check his channel and see how his SWC experience matches up with yours!
