Happy Birthday Vincent Price

He would have been 107 today.

With the help of Olga and the Cossacks, he got the better of Batgirl a few times.

I know they don't get the love on here that the cat's whiskers and pattern cutter do, but I've always loved the saber dance and caviar dunk. I just loved seeing Yvonne dance and once Batman and Robin arrived and she was out of that predicament, Egghead put her in another trap from which she could not escape by herself.

If I remember right Yvonne Craig named Price as her favorite Special Guest Villain... if only because of the sheer class he showed when she accidentally ran over his foot with the Batgirl-Cycle.

Personally, I've always loved the sabre dance, too. Not sure I'd call it my #1 favorite, but I love just about any deathtrap that forces the heroine to move instead of just lying there waiting for her doom.

I always remember him best for the Dr. Phibes movies and the similar Theatre of Blood.

Love the fiendish traps in those films. Somebody should do a series about a Phibes-esque superhero or superheroine turned evil who returns years after a presumed death to get revenge on a group of superheroines. Picking them off, one by one.

To me, Vincent Price is one of the all time greats. He was really better than most of the material he was given. And when he was given a chance to do more than Mad Scientist #236, he was great. He totally steals the movie in Macao (1952), for instance. I watched that movie because Jane Russell was in it, but Price blew everyone off the screen, and is pretty much the real hero of the piece.

He also made a great Cardinal Richelieu in the Gene Kelley version of The Three Musketeers.

On the one hand, I'm glad the horror business gave him steady work, but I really wonder what he might have done if he weren't so stereotyped.

Yes one of my acting heroes too. Very intelligent man who had an amazing art collection that would put most museums to shame. Had a great sense of humour and wasnt afraid to take the mick out of himself. And what a voice for narration. That 'Darkness falls across the land..' speech in Jacksons Thriller vid is just fantastic
