Wait a sec...I didn't realize it before, but one look at the henchwoman's enamored face on this particular page clinches it:
the art is by Carlos Granda who drew Geek Girl! Which is a fun and sexy book from Sam Johnson which I wrote about a couple
years ago on this forum (I bought the first graphic novel direct from Sam). The writing didn't pull any punches on that one, either -
the main character was placed in some serious perils.

Yet another reason to back Arachna when it launches!

Another question for the forum. Best scenarios to capture a heroine?

There are, of course, an infinity of scenarios. She could be lured in by an anonymous tip only to be bushwhacked when she arrives. She could be captured incidentally by a group of criminals or villains she engages and is defeated by, who decide to take her hostage as a matter of convenience, or just because they're taken with her. She could be targeted by shadowy pseudo-governmental agents who wish to study or enslave her, who hit her where she lives and kidnap her from her own bed, ruthlessly and efficiently rendering her meek and tame. She could be targeted by a rival hero, who wishes to humiliate her to boost or revive their own reputation, either setting up a fake-rescue to make themselves look good, or just send out lots of pictures of her all tied up to make her look bad. She might be snatched up by a villain who wants to steal her powers, keeping her alive as a helpless, living battery, or just as a pretty trophy once she's all drained.

She could even be lured in by a shadowy double personality in her own mind who tries to persuade her that her own personality is false and the shadowy double is the real one when she was in fact implanted by a deranged scientist trying to turn the heroine into a copy of his own estranged daughter using the heroine's own insecurities and doubts as a feeding ground for the double who delivers her into the clutches of the deranged scientist who threatens to destroy her personality forever only to be rescued at the last minute by her fellow-heroine girlfriend.

...okay that last one was a bit specific.

Well as Venom, the most powerful bug creature ever existed, I'm certain that Arachna simply cannot resist my venomous pheromones! Her arachnalicious spidersenses will be tingling so badly, that I bet she'll be crawling into my dark and devious spiderlair just to get some exciting webplay and taste some venomous spiderjuices!!! So I don't think I even need to capture her at all.

Backed the campaign a couple days ago for the Samantha cosplay cover! Congrats on your success! Indiegogo worked quite well.
I wonder if the CG customer base and the fetish audience are even aware of each other (except for the two of us).

Your scenario reminds of the Jim Balent Catwoman comic where she gets gassed and spends a lot of time in a cage. If memory serves, she opened a safe expecting a diamond or jewels, but instead gets knockout gas.

She's fighting him in a hotel room. I had to crop the page to not give too much away.

Thinking of making of two short films, the first which would end in a cliffhanger like the Batman TV Show. These would be for sale on the Arachna website.

Gorgeous art by Granda!

But the editor in me comes out a little. The first panel is fantastic.
But in the second one, you want a question mark at the end of her last sentence: "Hey, I don't need a Brazilian wax, okay?".
And also, putting the shadow behind her tight costume makes her look a bit 'bulky' unintentionally. The shadow could be there, but
maybe just not as wide. You want to first and foremost see the definition of her form.

Just my two cents! This continues to be a great concept..and I'm interested to also see how the other currently crowdfunding SHIP-related book (Amazon Arrow) turns out in comparison. Granda's art seems to be considerably better.

Thrilled for October when my copy and the attached goodies arrive!
Won't check out any pages of this as I don't wanna be spoilered.

Major props to Ai, Martti and Carlos for fulfilling Arachna: The Adventure Begins in impeccable style - we received our comic today!
And the other various perks, all in perfect condition.

Actress Samantha Auch looks very hot on the cosplay cover (which I got), so I hope she films live-action as Arachna. I'll be reading the comic this week and, I suspect, so will several others on the forum, so post your reactions.

Looking forward to Volume 2!

Read it yesterday, time for a little review!
I love the way how it is illustrated, not really a surprise as we could see quite some preview pages beforehand.
But the art is very well done, actually I like the style much better than in a lot of "mainstream" comics where it looks weird or childish...can't explain it much better I guess.
Arachna looks great in and out of the costume and to have such a hot villainess in it, is a nice bonus as well!
The lettering is done very well, tells a good story, and has some nice jokes in it. :-)

I saw some of the pages early on as previews and decided at a certain point that I don't want to see any more of them as I don't want to spoil the experience when I read it for the first time. For the 2nd comic, I will maybe just watch one page or so and then ignore the rest.
The unmasking is good, we could see that in a preview as the costume damaging (the straps over her chest).

I like that Kumo gets unmasked during the fight, even there is no secret identity as both know how the other one looks beneath the mask.

I also very much enjoyed the fight scenes, they are scripted and drawn very well.
I paid quite a lot for the comic, as it's a special cover and I have the postage costs to Germany. The goodies are a nice addition!
In the end, it is the most expensive comic book I ever bought. It will get a special place.
Was it worth it? I think yes, even I might consider buying "just" the normal issue next time, will have to see how the prices are if they stay the same and so on.
And on how many comics are planned for what time period.
Thanks a lot to everyone involved in the comic! You did a great job and I'm looking forward to more adventures with Arachna!

For the 2nd comic I would wish for:
- an unmasking struggle with a conscious and UNrestrained Arachna (secret identity intact before the unmasking)
- perhaps an unmasking ATTEMPT to warm up ;-)
- some more costume and mask damage as the fight goes on

Thanks, Shevek. As I mentioned on Twitter, you've been one of our biggest supporters since this campaign started and I'm very thankful for that.

Let me know you favorite parts in the book once you have a chance to read and experience it. So far the feedback on it has been tremendous. Words can't express how I feel since this was a passion project and it ended up connecting with so many people.

Arachna will have a mysterious new Seonbae/Sensei in Arachna 2 and he will work her like crazy. Jennie's going to be pretty sore the next day. Watch the video here:

I can't guess the exact issue, but I'm thinking the page is a homage to an interaction between Felicia Hardy and Peter Parker where the subject of mask removal is brought up? Possibly Spectacular Spider-Man around the 1983-84 era? Guess we'll see if anyone gets it.

Seeing this post, I realize that I forgot to offer a short review of the book. Really, Maskripper said most of it already, but:
- Great peril scenes
- Gorgeous villainess (Kumo)
- Looking forward to what looks like your version of Kraven the Hunter and Calypso for Issue 2??

Speaking of that, one thing Maskripper didn't touch on are the various analogues to Spider-Man that you've built into the series,
such as the university setting for her secret identity..

It seems to me that Jennie's crush on "Sami" and her rivalry with the very hot afro'd "Tamara" is a similar love triangle to
that of Peter, Gwen Stacy and Flash Thompson. Since Jennie seems to be the "straight-laced" personality, maybe there can be a scene where she needs to bring out the confidence of her Arachna personality in order to edge out Tamara and make a move on him.

Looking forward to the issue 2 launch. I did want to give you a heads up: a couple days ago in an EVS chat, someone asked him what he thought of the Arachna book, and he didn't know about it at all. My guess is that influencers like EVS, Shane and Fraga would have a lot of good things to say about the wonderfully dynamic art of Carlos Granda. I think you'd make some serious headway into the CG crowd if you promoted your Indiegogo on those channels, but of course, do what you can!

No one got which scene the Arachna 2 page is paying homage to. LOL! I thought I would have a few right answers, but this was not the case.

The villain in Arachna 2 is Lance Henrickson in Hard Target, Kraven, and Zaroff from the Most Dangerous Game all rolled into one. The lady is more of a jungle girl trope with Rulah and Sheena used as an inspiration.

Regarding the triangle, it takes off more in Arachna 3 and there will be some weird things going on there. LOL!
