I predict the original Thor will be back to coincide with the second Avengers movie. These temporary "permanent" changes occur so often that it's a mystery as to who exactly Marvel (and DC) think they're fooling?

Thor has been an alien and a dentist (I think) in the past. So why not a woman. What boggles me is why this is reported in the news. It's like the whole "Death of Superman" thing that they couldn't stop talking about. It's meaningless. Anyone who reads comic books looks at this and goes, "Yeah, so?"

After some more reading what it appears to be is anyone worthy of wielding the hammer can use the hammer so Thor (son of Odin) isn't thor anymore and this girl is.

It might give them an interesting avenue to go down if Chris Hemsworth doesn't renew his contract. (Supposedly he is tired of spending months in the gym bulking up for the movies, then spending months in the gym after the movies slimming back down again so he can take normal roles.)
