Gumroad is a platform which has had plenty of superheroine and SHIP content. Mentioned on this Forum in the past year alone have been Mandi Steele, Wanda Fantasy and even Christina Carter. Our host MH even recommended Gumroad to a new aspiring producer only 5 months ago.
But now it's apparently fallen prey to this trend of payment services refusing to work with NSFW/XXX content, namely Stripe and Paypal.
I found out about this by accident by looking into it after Kemono posted a message on the top of their front page "Gumroad has gone full retard."
Earlier this month, Gumroad banned NSFW content, supposedly under pressure from the payment systems.
Here's a relevant article which covers all the major points.

I guess the question is: why is this happening all over? Any insights on this? And not that I'm going to do it myself, since almost everything I do is PG-13, but to what payment system could a producer go where this is not going to be an issue? Are there alternatives?
Gumroad bans NSFW content
I know Visa gets a bug up their butt now and then and demands no porn. It seems adult content suffers from this ant trap phenomena where every has to use some service then the rug gets pulled out and they are all screwed. Not sure what gumroad is going to sell to make money.

Payment companies are just like us now. They're not stupid and they're social media savvy. They know where creators are going when they get banned from one payment solution and hop to another. Plus it's part of a payment processor's SOP to scan the sites that run transactions through their system. TBH I am surprised it took this long which is why I never really bothered to load my content up there.
I think my wrestling content might fly since it's non/nude PG rated but I know you guys aren't here for that

For a while you'd get booted from a merchant account and they keep your money, you get a call offering merchant services when you make it clear you do adult, they wait 4 months then do the same thing.

Was, or has it already, been purged from gumroad?
Looks like it's gone. There's no more Christina Carter Gumroad (and she only put it up in Nov 2023!) and no Wanda Fantasy.
The Steeleverse Gumroad is still there, but it's just hot superheroine modeling photos, nothing even rated R.
I don't know who else used the site so I can't say how thorough the purge might be.
Man, that really sucks.shevek wrote: ↑2 months agoLooks like it's gone. There's no more Christina Carter Gumroad (and she only put it up in Nov 2023!) and no Wanda Fantasy.

I just found Gumroad last year or the year before, while looking up Mandi/Adara Steele photos.
What I don't get is what the heck do the payment systems care what the money is being used for?
People need to relax and just let others be.
I've seen people move to surfnetshevek wrote: ↑2 months agoLooks like it's gone. There's no more Christina Carter Gumroad (and she only put it up in Nov 2023!) and no Wanda Fantasy.

Surfnet? What is it? I have seen a Surfnet website but seems to be far from this type of SHIP movie.Mr. X wrote: ↑2 months agoI've seen people move to surfnetshevek wrote: ↑2 months agoLooks like it's gone. What are the other swebsites to find these SHIP content?
Surfnet is a provider. They handle my subscriptions and one of my stores. For example paragon uses them.

This is my surfnet store.
Another store I have is using ejunkie and tying that to a paypal account but that's more risky.

Not sure if this is worldwide or just the answer in Australia and New Zealand, we made porn production more or less organise crime. It's not that porn production company aren't targeted here, but the revenue they generate created a big headache for ATO and IRD because most of the fund is untraceable from both direction and is very pronged to be a face/front/cover for money laundry scheme.shevek wrote: ↑2 months agoGumroad is a platform which has had plenty of superheroine and SHIP content. It's kind of like marijuana revenue in the US, it's illegal federally but legal by state, which create an issue regarding the tax reporting side of thing, that's why Visa/Master and everyday bank usually not accepted payment from pornographic industry or sex work, which is illegal in some state and legal in some.
The running thoery for them is if they don't touch it, they won't get investigated.
Looks like Sleeperkid, at least, found an antidote to the puritanical shenanigans at Gumroad and Patreon. Saw this posted on his DA account recently.
I wonder how that is working for him.
