Purity #1 (Nick Caponi, Kickstarter)
Colorist Nick Caponi has worked for Dynamite, Scout, Source Point, Archie, and Sinopa among other companies.
I just witnessed the launching of his bad-girl book Purity, which is about a Puritan girl who is wrongly accused of witchcraft
by her evil sister. Apparently, he lives very close to the Kubert School in New Jersey, so he was probably either an attendee or a vendor
at Garden State two weekends ago, but I didn't know who he was, and didn't get to meet him.
If it sounds a lot like Tarot Witch of the Black Rose by Jim Balent, that's because Nick is a huge Balent fan.
If you like Tarot as well as bad-girl books such as Lady Death, Warrior Nun and Witchblade, this is for you.
Purity's costume design is so sexy. I think the ultimate touch is that she has the high boots with the Puritan belt buckles,
Nick is genius for thinking of that (I don't think anyone did that before?) because it juxtaposes the Puritanism against the hot body perfectly.
I'm backer #125 and this campaign has two weeks left, so you've got the chance to help him out.
I backed the Cover D because it has the most "come-hither" pose of the variants. That's pretty much what we're about on the Forum, right?
See immediately below for a great interview with Nick Caponi on Vaughn Coleman's Youtube channel.
Vaughn is a young buck whom I've met several times at Comicons (Baltimore, GardenState, Terrificon) and he's a huge supporter of indie books
from the CG realm and otherwise, plus he's working on his own comic projects as well.
