Not sure how such a skin tight catsuit on fit woman can still be somewhat blah, meh to me???? Why? Maybe I am spoiled by my blonde petite goddess alien girl, Melissa "Kara" Benoist as Supergirl. I am a sucker for a blonde in red knee high boots and a skirt!!!

She looks fine in a casual dress, and not so bad with that suit. But gosh, she introduces herself as Kara, WTF..

Not sure if this is even worth the bother to watch since they completely dumped the DCU anyway. And the big bad guy are the Kryptonians. In Man of Steel it was the humans who mostly beat the kryptonians anyway through some McGuffin. Wasn't any super beings other than superman fighting Zod.

She look good to me since I'm a Supes fan. I might peep this movie despite some of my misgivings. And there's a cosplayer name Liswonder that cosplayed her, too. I would like to see more of this cosplay.

Just a man who loves powerful ladies in skintight spandex. Tight is right.
If she was Liz Wonder THEN I might go see it.Heroineaddicted wrote: ↑1 year agoShe look good to me since I'm a Supes fan. I might peep this movie despite some of my misgivings. And there's a cosplayer name Liswonder that cosplayed her, too. I would like to see more of this cosplay.

Didn't the Kryptonians come to earth cause Kal activated the AI in the scout ship? And why would the Atlanteans and Amazons sit around and do nothing.

I hope one of her superpowers is to grow long hair really fast
Just from the look and the costume I really miss Melissa Benoist from seasons 1-4 already.
But let's see how her role and her acting will be... I am certainly very curious about this movie, as I am very excited to see Michael Keaton's Batman again.

Almost looks like the they should stuff some truck nutz into the crotch of that out fit and finish the job…
The cape is longer than she is tall, it’s gonna get muddy and dog pooped and stuff. She really just needs a spit curl and call her Clark.

I have to agree, Sasha Calle as DCEU's Supergirl, "Worst Supergirl ever".
This will always be the Supergirl look

On the plus side.....nope, I got nothing.

On the plus side, with this full coverage costume, we won't be bothered with any concerns about tattoos. And that's all I got.
She looks fine. It's an alternate universe. It's not even meant to be like 'THE' Supergirl... it's more like Berry just went to a universe where Kara is the 'superman' instead of Clark.
I'm basically just shocked this movie is still coming out at all.

There will inevitably be some absolute weirdos out there throwing shit at Sasha Calle over how she looks in this movie, but she's clearly hot as fuck. What's happened is somebody has managed to create the least attractive version of a superhero costume possible and stuck her in it. And now she's going to get all the hate.
That seems really unfair to me.
It's actually a very common problem throughout this whole superhero craze. It's all so po-faced. I wish the folks at Disney and DC had spent some time thinking about how they could do sexiness properly, rather than deciding, "No this is too difficult, everybody look as bland as possible please." Even the Wonder Woman movies. They hired an actress whose only skill is looking conventionally attractive and made her visually dull.
An attempt was kind of made with The Batman, but even then they stick Catwoman in a knitted teacosy hat thing? WTAF.
Margot Robbie literally carrying the entire libido of the superhero genre because that blessed saint of a woman cannot stop being hot for five minutes.
But to circle back around to the point, that's such an ugly costume, and it's not even practical. It's for supes, so it's not armour, there's no practical reason for her to be wearing the world's ugliest full body wetsuit with a cape. Even with super speed it's got to be a pain in the butt to put on in a hurry.
Should point out though, her boobs look great in it. Like, that is a terrible costume, and usually everything gets squashed flatter in an outfit like that, but they won't quit. Respect.

Agreed on the uniform being the issue and not Sasha (as I think everyone here feels the same). Perhaps DC could use the excuse of a skimpy one-piece bathing suit-style of costume as Supergirl has to wear the outfit beneath her civilian clothes at all times in case she needs to transform. That might at least appease the moderates who would complain about the heroine being sexy. Now as for the boots…

DCU had no issue whit Henry Cavill shirtless for over 20 minutes in Justice League. They had no issue with Jason Mamoa shirtless and eye candy in multiple scenes. Chris Pine doing a nude scene in Wonder Woman. MCU had no issue with the multiple gratuitous shirtless scenes for Hemsworth, Evans, Pratt.
I think the claim of "skimpy supergirl suit" being bad makes little sense. And this is how I want it. I want these things to die and the best way is to let them burn their own house down. If they have no issue with man-stud fan service but cringe at female fan service when a large portion of the movie audience would be men then die on the vine.
And this idea women are nervous - take a look at tik tok and OF. No end of women gyrating around on a camera. Look at the cosplay girls. Again no end of T and A.
There is literally nothing wrong with having a sexy Supergirl because there is nothing wrong with fan service Superman, Aquaman, Thor.

I am sure Sasha Calle is attractive when she isn't being turned into Superboy. It is a shame she has to portray a blue-eyed blonde sexy Kryptonian in such an absurd manner. I have to agree, let DCEU continue down this path to ruin. In my mind, I will wait and watch. And when DC is as financially bankrupt as they are creatively, and have to start selling assets, hopefully a sane business savvy entity will step in an buy the rights to Classic Supergirl. DC can sink with their woke version into oblivion, while the authentic iconic Supergirl will thrive with a new owner and home. Well...at least I can dream.
Man if Hollywood shared the mindset of this board we would have had Christian Bale wearing grey spandex with blue briefs on over it
I personally don’t need to be rocking a full blown hard on in movie theatres, if anything I am glad most of my MCU experience was untainted by my over abundant sexuality and that I was able to just enjoy the films for what they were vs bringing lube n cumming myself a couple aisles from little Timmy and his mother in a movie theatre
Why do some of you need every Supergirl to be THEIR Supergirl? Why does the costume in mainstream media ALWAYS have to be the same?
I don’t know if you guys know this but we have never gotten a big screen version of the ACTUAL supergirl from the comic books. It might be a surprise to some of you but she’s NOTHING like Clark Kent. She’s a girl who grew up on another planet and hates being on Earth. She’s tormented by losing everyone she loves. She’s not some nerd who likes the newspaper. She’s angry as fuck.
Why not satisfy your sexuality through porn? It’s not like there isn’t enough of it. IMO the Flash film looks fun and cool. I think the new Supergirl looks great (even if I don’t want to fuck her!). I didn’t want to fuck Sarah Connor either! But I’ll be damned if I don’t every now and then watch her rock that fucking shotgun and blow holes through that playdoh motherfucker
And also - I hated Superman’s costume in Man of Steel. And guess what? Now I think that’s exactly what Superman looks like. I’m glad they tossed his underwear to the cleaners. And I’ll add this - chicks who rock a woman version of his costume? I love that shit too

Sorry, but Supergirl is a little, ok LOTS, older than the Michael J. Turner version of 2004. I know myself and McGheeny are referring to the girl who arrived in that little purple rocket in Action 252! She may have been heartbroken to lose her family and Argo City, but happy she has family on Earth.SHL wrote: ↑1 year agoMan if Hollywood shared the mindset of this board we would have had Christian Bale wearing grey spandex with blue briefs on over it

The Supergirl movie in '84 did a decent portrayal of THAT Supergirl. The rest of the story sucked, but...
As for the Sasha Calle version, OK, fine. Have a Earth-whatever version, but that costume, much like the Supergirl costumes in last two seasons of the the series are so bad! As I've said before, such costumes shouldn't remind me of winter pool covers. Isn't that itchy? And I don't see any advantage to such textures. Not like Supergirl would need bulletproofing.
Now the Helen Slater costume of '84 was a proper costume as it was one that looked smooth, and non-binding. She would have no problem fighting in that costume. And look stylish too.
My 2 cents.
Pardon me for saying so, as I do admire your works quite a bit, but you're both being misdirective (engaging in strawman) and factually incorrect.SHL wrote: ↑1 year agoMan if Hollywood shared the mindset of this board we would have had Christian Bale wearing grey spandex with blue briefs on over it

The strawman is criticizing people for wanting to blow their load in theaters. Nobody is doing that so it's a false accusation.
We did get a big screen version, and it's called Helen Slater. We also got many animated cartoons with Supergirl, where she was powerful and went through struggles, but certainly wasn't hateful about it. Nobody has to look to porn for accurate depictions of Supergirl. They would only look to porn if they want to see Supergirl naked and having sex. Fetish actresses like Xev Bellringer, Cory Chase, Ludella Hahn, Randy Moore, and Mandy Flores do have some great versions of that (all of which I happen to own) but that is not the topic here.
This new version of Supergirl is about satisfying an agenda. With this particular character, the Current Year types wanted to eliminate two things about the classic version: her All-American white-breadness and her wholesome girl-next-door sexiness. They did both by casting a Latina actress and tamping down on the hotness with a cover-all costume and a non-binary hairstyle. (Analogy: my local state representative ran for office on a 'progressive' slate with that exact same short asymmetrical hairdo to rally up her hard-left base. But after she got into the State House, she grew her hair shoulder-length and symmetrical, in order to work better with the mainstream legislators there.)
So back to the hateful part: It hardly exists. There have been seven volumes of Supergirl comics for DC. I didn't read the Michael Turner one (although I do love his Fathom) but all of the other ones from 1972 to 2015, clearly depict her as hopeful, wholesome and optimistic, not a miserable bitch. Even the Supergirl CW show recognizes this inherent hopeful character quality, even in its most heavy-handed moments (the "hope" is just for something else, that's all). In fact, it's only until we get to last year's "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow" that she is characterized all the way through as an obnoxious hardass, and of course, that's the version that they *claim* they're using for the upcoming Supergirl movie (we'll see if that's actually true or not, because I don't believe that story makes a good mass-appeal movie).
Finally, with regards a "woman version" of the Superman costume?
There's already been at least four: Lois Lane (as Superwoman), Lana Lang (as Superwoman), Lucy Lane (as Superwoman), and Lois Lane Earth 3 (as the villainess Superwoman, kind of combined in Spirit with an evil Diana Prince). All of them have been depicted as shapely and hot in the comics, and yes, none of them have been wholesome and optimistic like Supergirl. The Supergirl costume which Sasha Calle is wearing is derived from the alternate universe Supergirl, Cir-El, who was featured briefly in the comics.
Again, Sasha Calle is gorgeous, especially with her full long hair, which could have been easily dyed for the part if necessary. She has somewhat of the same look as a Jessica Alba, who was smoking hot as both Invisible Woman (with dyed hair!) and Dark Angel. There was a conscious decision to tamp all of that down heroine hotness down.
My two cents. Feel free to disagree.
No deep delving into politics gents and keep replies civil.
No one has gone too far yet, let's keep it that way

Not sure where the secret plot comes from or where femininity destruction has been referenced. It seems to me that the issue is the degree to which the producers of the movie chose to style and cloth Supergirl in a manner that removes a lot of the sensuality or sexiness of the character. But I haven’t read every last post so perhaps I missed the part about a secret plot to destroy femininity.

And add to this having no issue presenting men as eye candy and shirtless fan service. Its a huge double standard. Ok end the shirtless scenes and tight male costumes. I have no issue with that.sugarcoater wrote: ↑1 year agoNot sure where the secret plot comes from or where femininity destruction has been referenced. Helen Slater as Supergirl, Lynda Carter as Wonder Woman, Jessica Alba as Susie Storm. Just a few excellent representations of icon superheroines who have as an important part of their superpowers, feminine sensuality. And they owned it. Each of these heroines represent the best of what made each of us get into this fetish. Just because we want to see a woman be a woman, and an icon be represented as that icon, that is no reason to tell us we can't enjoy and want in our version of a superheroine. And if we choose to see Kara Zor-El in a skirt and you don't, that should be okay with everyone. It's all about a fantasy not an agenda. As I said before, put this new male version of Supergirl head to head with the icon version of Supergirl and let the bottom line $$$$ tell the tale. I will put every cent on the latter, and I only bet on a sure thing. The only things stopping this from happening is embarrassment and marketing savvy. Ask SNL how well sex sells
Just because we want to see a woman not hyper sexualized in a Hollywood film and an icon be representing strong and powerful women, that is no reason to tell us we can't enjoy and want in our version of a superheroine. And if we choose to see Kara Zor-El in a full bodysuit that isn=t hugging her lips and you don't, that should be okay with everyone.McGheeny wrote: ↑1 year agoJust because we want to see a woman be a woman, and an icon be represented as that icon, that is no reason to tell us we can't enjoy and want in our version of a superheroine. But a female superhero can’t be sexy in this day and age.
Compare the costume designs from the last decade in feature films to those in the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman is really the only one that can show off her body. Everything else is covered head to toe.

Respect.
