Polls: Let's Design a Heroine!

Post by ThatOnePervert »

I'm curious as to what the ideal heroine looks like to the forum and thought we might run some polls to determine their design and powers. Rather than making a new forum topic for each poll I think it would be faster to just set up a few Strawpolls and let people have at it. Polls will close every 24-48 hours depending on voter turnout. To start we'll determine her basic appearance, ethnic background, age, and body type. I will update with the current polls and the winners from the previous polls as we go.

Petit, naive with an mildly exotic look and great hair. I always thought Cali Logan as Super Pink was a character that should have had more on screen opportunities. Seeing a pretty little thing getting thrown around and finally facing a perilous predicament is great…. Some of my favorite scenes are Batgirl just getting picked up and manhandled into a peril….

For me a heroine's body has to be athletic in shape,(I am going to be sexist here, but I am also going after what men should not be in this) when we see a flabby or overweight performer; it just does not work.

For the men flabbiness is out and especially if you are playing Robin; no reeceding hairlines

Lynda Carter Season 2 is my ideal, but in general, I want someone who comes across as tall, with a fit look. Think 70's runner, or 80's aerobics.

Note that you can get the "tall" look by hiring an actress of average height with the right build, and casting shorter villains and henchmen. This also allows you to hire someone 6' to 6'2" and cast them as a "giant."

For ethnicity, I would generally say "broadly Caucasian" which could also include Hispanic, Native American, or Middle Eastern or South Asian. At present, I'm turned off by obvious race-swapping, but if it's an original character, anything goes.

For males, particularly villains and henchmen, I tend to like actors who fade into the background somewhat. I'm always up for a good Frank Gorshin impression, though.

Fun poll!

Based on my selections, I think I probably have at least three ideal heroine types, and they tend to be the more difficult ones to cast (which makes it a challenge).

re Sneakly's comment, I think you may want to add a poll on hair, both color and length, when you expand upon the poll concept a bit more.

Generally Western European is what I had in mind, England, France, Germany, etc. No trying to leave anyone out, purposefully, but also didn't want to come down to listing every country on the planet.

yeah

it's pretty clear

maybe next time just write "generic white American" and be done with it, fits better with "the generic black american" you have in there, because there's certainly no ethnic differences betweem Egypt, Gambia, Nigeria, Kenya and Botswana is there.

state of this

Again, no offense was meant by any of the options provided, this was just an idea I had at six in the morning and thought I'd throw up some polls. I could go back and add a Western Europe options and divide the different parts of Africa if people really want, but I don't think there's gonna be a lot of demand for it.

With this round of voting coming to a close our heroine's physical appearance is largely set. She's a Caucasian woman around 25-30 years old and 5'5-5'8 with a thicc figure. Though given the last thread that someone made about thiccness I think that still leaves a lot of room for interpretation. She has raven black hair and green eyes, was expecting blonde, but considering the WW love around here it's not that surprising. What did surprise me a bit was the domineering personality. You guys looking to get stepped on or is this one of those "the bigger they are, the harder they fall" situations?

Whatever the reasoning, we move from appearance to ability our next two polls will determine the nature of her powers and her general power level. Polls are listed below.

If you want me to step on your toes you would have to look for Circe. What I'm looking for is for her to have an intimidating or fatal appearance. I took the audacity in posting pictures of two beautiful women, one is intimidating.

I get that, I wouldn't say she's intimidating, but she looks more confident and confidence and intimidation are pretty close to each other.

These last two polls were pretty neck and neck, but by one point each it looks like we have our winners. Magical origins beat genetic/mutations and our heroine is mid tier instead of low tier in terms of strength.

With that in mind, what is the nature of our heroine's magical abilities?

Suppose you have no commitments and you decide to go to a disco. In the discotheque there are the two women in the picture. Which one would you talk to? :hmmm:

Our last poll ended in a decisive victory for a magical item as our heroine's power source. Now onto our biggest poll yet, what is the magical item she draws her powers from? I added 26 options to this one so if I miss something obvious I apologize (I almost made the poll without a belt as an option so it is possible), but hopefully what I have provided works for everyone. Some choices might require a second vote to narrow down from there.

While you're voting please think about a powerset for our heroine that might interest you. Choose 3-5 powers that you feel match her status as a mid tier superheroine and write them in the comments and I'll add them to the final poll for her powers.

We've got a three-way tie on the current poll so we're going into overtime. Right now are top three options are Mask, Belt and Anklet.

After overtime Belt came out on top, beating all the more interesting options and pushing us ever closer to recreating Wonder Woman.

Jokes aside, our next vote will be to determine what powers are heroine gets from her magic belt. For this one, let's say the top 3-5 options win, mostly just so if a clearly themed power set is voted on and one or two of the less popular options don't feel fitting we have the option to drop them. I submitted 30 different powers and some of them will probably require a second vote if they win, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

At this point I'll be satisfied if she has one power that's not WW's.

Results are in, Strength and Durability come out on top with Agility in third and Speed/Reflexes and Super Senses tie for fourth. So she's a brick, not even a flying brick, Just basic bitch tier powers all the way down. This is how dictatorships rise because democracy has failed us.

But let's not say that I abandoned the system because the results weren't what I hoped for. We still have one last poll to flesh our heroine out. Obviously our heroine needs her belt to have her powers, so losing it would be her main weakness. But does she have any other special way to weaken her?

So with the weakness poll finished we now have a fully fleshed out superheroine.

She is a 26-30 year old Caucasian woman with black hair and green eyes standing somewhere between 5'5-5'8 with a curvy build. She had a domineering personality and a magical belt that grants her Super strength, durability, speed, reflexes and senses to the point she could hold her own against an armed police force. Her biggest weaknesses are the loss of her magical belt and a mysterious substance that drains her of her powers.

So the original plan was to maybe commission some art or write some stories about our new heroine. Maybe she could become a sort of forum mascot if enough people liked her. But honestly considering what we created I think someone should just write a fanfic exploring the idea of Wonder Woman being part Kryptonian.

But this was fun, maybe at some point in the future we can do a poll to determine the forum's ideal villainess. I look forward to recreating Catwoman with all of you.

Leave out the more common options and it might get good.
