I must have been seven when I saw Richard Donner's Superman in 1978. When you are that young, you don't have that cynicism or as critical an eye as to what makes a "good" movie, plus, I was not into comic books so I didn't have any preconceived expectations going into the film. All I know is that I was enthralled for two hours and I immensely enjoyed the film, had the time of my life and it made me a Superman fan for life. I have not seen the film for quite a while now, so I suspect the special effects and other aspects don' t hold up to the superhero films made today, but by 1978 standards seeing a guy on film fly around Metropolis was pretty special for a 7 year old kid in back in 1978. RIP Richard Donner.
