We've got a lot of time on our hands so why not??

2020 wasn't the best of years, but that doesn't mean it didn't produce some great superheroine content!

Lets make this totally fan driven by allowing the fans to pick the categories!

First question is, how many categories should there be? I think the cap would be 10 but it could be less than that.

Here are the categories so far...

Best Superheroine Video Of The Year

Best Original Character

Best Superheroine Actress

Best Superheroine Newcomer (Actress)

Best Stunts/Fight Choreography

Best SFX

Best Superheroine FanFiction

I have more ideas but lets get the dialogue happening!

This post will be updated as more categories are added.

Please note that the voting will be for the 2020 year only so keep that consideration in mind as we progress to the nominations.

I am even considering doing a Zoom livestream of the event with a host and small virtual party where the winners can log in and say a few words to their fans if they choose!

Best superheroine fanfiction

Best superheroine OC story

For best video I nominate Strike, from Lucia Films. They set a new standard for a POV video. The action is intense and the performers really went all out.

In a more general sense, I found this a disappointing year for content. It's partly the pandemic restrictions I guess, but at least for my tastes, 2020 didn't have a single standout movie. I think maybe the biggest problem is the current model of many producers to produce only customs. It seems like piracy makes that model more appealing to producers, but I miss the days when Rye and TBFE made the vids they wanted to. Those are far and away my favorites, and now they're not being made. It seems like three or four years ago was the SHIP golden age.

Impressive restraint, sir. I see you resisted the urge to call for the category
"Best writer whose name rhymes with 'amselbinder'". 😀 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

I was wrangling with 2 ideas and maybe you guys can help me with this.

Best Producer - The Producer who has either put out the best consistent content or could be a producer who has produced a blockbuster hit in the genre.

Best Studio - The studio/producer with the best sets/locations/props.... or maybe this could be added criteria for the Best Producer category....

I think Best Stunts/Fight Choreography should be there for sure (and has been added!)

Interesting...maybe break out sub-categories with specific characters. I like that idea.

I've added OC and will add Best FX.

I think you want the categories to reflect the different kinds of producers/studios and not pit those with very different aesthetics against each other. Maybe:

Consistent Excellence in Genre Content
and
Consistent Excellence in Technical Production

Maybe I'm overthinking it -- but popularity of one sub-genre shouldn't overshadow excellence in other sub-genres.

An overriding thought: this is a rough year for producers; too many categories might make the awards seem threadbare. Honestly anybody who's found a way to hang in there and get something made deserves some acknowledgement.

The Zoom livestream would be really cool. Maybe it could be something that producers can participate in to have roundtable chats with each other and fans after the award event.

Best Nemesis

Indubitably within every great movie there dwells a worthy antagonist, without whom, said movie would linger in a lack luster stasis.

An impressive Heroine endeavoring against an adept, innovative, ominous adversary, is primary in making a great movie, great.

Our interest is Heroine "peril". Homage should be paid to he or she who delights in darkly dragging our Heroine along an obstacle course of protracted pain and compelled pleasure.

Lastly, when are we officially going to be able to make nominations. Are the categories near to be finalized.

Here! Here! A great good girl needs an equally or greater Bad Guy(Gal) to make the story sizzle.

Are we just deciding on the categories here or actually nominating?
I think Best Producer is an excellent idea, but I would go with the producer with the best overall offering. There are already categories that call out individual films, so you don't need a Best Producer who produced one big video.

How about a category for best customer service? There are so many producers out there who have bad service or who are even actively hostile, that I think it would be nice to call out the good ones. :)

Yeah we will start with the nominations this weekend and probably should solidify the categories so people know what they are nominating!

The best SHIP film I saw in 2020 was Enthusiastic Participation: Reign of Terror by Rye. Even though this was the third installment of the series and again focused on the blackmail of the superheroine, the story was fresh, interesting, and the sexual peril stuff was off the charts hot. Alina Lopez gave an awesome performance and looked gorgeous, looked and acted the part wonderfully. I love those films with a lot of psychological as well as sexual peril. Like all of Rye's softcore masterpieces, the sexual content is indeed simulated, but this film went farther than any Rye entry to date. That Blake Blossom Supergirl film made by Primal is also a great candidate for best SHIP film of 2020.

So, I don't know if I missed it but I am guessing the way this is going to go is ...

At some point there will be award categories - perhaps with a written definition of them - just so it is clear.

Then there will be nominations for those categories? Are there rules for nominations? Like - can you nominate yourself? (seems unethical!)

Once nominees are known - a voting period for them.

The award ceremony - live on youtube - hosted by Melissa Benoist and oh who am I kidding! At some point there will be the award results.

Is that about it?

Someone I know was very negative on Strike so I stayed away from it initially, but I eventually checked it out and I thought it was quite wonderful, really good film. I like it when companies try something outside the box and experiment with something new. When you tell a good story and get solid performances, what more can you ask for? Good nominee.

If it's not too late, you should include categories for:

Best Villain and Best Villainess.
