Months ago, a She-Hulk TV series was announced as part of the new Disney + TV show lineup.

So far, this is the only evidence of it going forward: the head writer is Jessica Gao of Rick & Morty fame.

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat- ... lk-1253300

Another writer for the show ( presumably working as part of Jessica Gao's team) named Dana Schwartz was taken to task for her recent heavy criticism of South Park (basically taking on an army of what she considers to be geek trolls). That had little to do with the She-Hulk show, other that to indicate the attitude from one particular writer that might be involved..but it's still worth keeping an eye on, because Schwartz is writing a new comic for Marvel where Pepper Potts dons the Rescue armor to save an otherwise incapable/incompetent Tony Stark.

Next we've got a casting and character description for She-Hulk which is little more than a rumor.
...“an actress with comedic chops in the 26 to 34-year old range... leaving the casting open to all races.”
Also that her origin possibly involves the fabled blood transfusion from Bruce Banner, and that she'll join the Avengers.

https://www.theilluminerdi.com/2020/02/ ... -avengers/

But that's about it so far. Hope to hear more concrete information soon, and hopefully it's good news!
Personally I would love to see someone like Gina Carano (who did such a great job in The Mandalorian) take the role, at least
the She-Hulk side of it (it seems likely that they would cast two actresses like they did for the Hulk TV show with Ferrigno and Bixby).

Oh, and in case you're wondering what She-Hulk's been doing in Marvel Comics lately, from which they could draw inspiration for the TV show - well, let's just say we should pray that they draw instead from John Byrne or even Dan Slott (rather than, say, Mariko Tamaki).

In the latest iteration of Jennifer Walters in the new "Marvel Voices", a very bulky and masculine-looking She-Hulk attacks a police van containing a convicted male felon on his way to jail, releasing the prisoner so that his female victim can take personal revenge. In the process, she destroys the van, and leaves the cop who was driving the van injured and unconscious, slumped over the wheel. Yup, that's Marvel Comics in Current Year. Hopefully such tendencies are tempered in the TV series.

Interesting.

Just in case you didn't know, Disney apparently owns Hulu. So if you already have Hulu and sign up for Disney+ with the same e-mail address, you get Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ for the same price.

So since I already had Hulu, getting Disney+ was a no brainer. So far I watched the Mandalorian and re-watched some of the Marvel movies. :)

But it will be great if Disney starts adding a lot of original Marvel series and maybe continues some of the NetFlix ones.

I expect this to be dreadful, but that the porn parodies will be a silver lining. No spoilers, because I don't know the future!

EXCLUSIVE: After tapping Kat Coiro as director, Marvel Studios looks to have found its star to take over the title role in its She-Hulk series. Sources tell Deadline that Orphan Black star Tatiana Maslany is the choice to play the title character in Marvel’s She-Hulk series for Disney+. Deadline broke on Tuesday that Coiro would direct several episodes, including the pilot, for the series and now the show has its actress for the highly coveted role.

Marvel didn’t immediately return a call for comment.

Man yeah I can't believe there'd ever be a superhero who's morally questionable, is a little too hot on revenge, and has a cavalier attitude to collateral damage. Literally never been done.

This looks like a very interesting choice for the Jennifer Walters lead (assuming at this point that the She-Hulk form will be CGI,
and not an entirely different actress). Maslany played about six different clone characters in Orphan Black and even won some serious awards doing it, so she has the range and chops to pull off a personality shift between Jen and Shulkie. Plus she has a following from that series, which garnered quite a sizeable fanbase.

Can't tell what influence Kat Coiro is going to have as a director. She definitely seems to have the experience to pull this off, but she's never directed a superhero type of show before. I like some of the things I read about her - e.g. she directed episodes of It's Always Sunny and Brooklyn 99; she once wrote and directed a movie for $150,000 on the small volcanic island of Ischia (near Naples, Italy) while being eight months pregnant. Seems like kind of a bad-ass and rather hot, too - she would have been good for the Jennifer Walters role herself.

Cross your fingers and hope for good things - hopefully there will be some great muscular transformations, and also some classic courtroom hi-jinks and quippy breaking of the fourth wall, rather than the depressed clunky rage machine that She-Hulk has been recently in the comics.

If this is a CGI she-hulk then its going to probably be 99% Tatiana and 1% she hulk.

theoretically the Disney+ shows are supposed to be 'movie budget' scope (hence the ridiculous 30 minute run times so that they really are just making a pair of back to back films in runtime as opposed to a SERIES)

Of course with the plague stalling up every production ever and holding up the shows that would otherwise have been out by now from giving us any idea of what to expect from the D+ marvel shows... we've yet to get any concrete example of what they are really doing with these shows.

We might see a decent 70/30 hulk ratio though if the budgets are up......... does the She-Hulk really NEED a lot of CGI though? I mean unless they are doing the current run comic book stuff which is disappointingly just 'The Hulk........ but with boobs' Oldschool UNIQUE She-Hulk is more like a hyper athletic transformation... If it requires some CGI I'd be surprised if it required AS MUCH CGI.

Well CGI for her, for fight scenes, for destruction scenes. She is a brawler after all. I've noticed the Boys lacks a lot of actual CGI and action scenes. And given Disney's declaration of being for profit and the fact this show is still unproven I doubt they would give it huge budgets. Also in the comics She Hulk stayed she hulk as a lawyer for a lot of the time.

I guess we could use the CW shows as a template. How many CGI characters have 30% screen time? Not many if at all. No main character is a CGI character. They did Grod but again that was one shots and the CGI wasn't all that great. King Shark but again a one or two episode experience. They reuse a lot of that Flash zipping scenes. And Supergirl has either very few CGI characters or will have people in make up.

Now one thing I think would be cool is if they pattern the show after the Bill Bixby Hulk in which she is basically Cain doomed to walk the earth with this curse.

Have to give Marvel props for going for solid actors for their heroes rather than who looks great in the costume.

I don't know if that's Tatiana Maslany or if She-Hulk is played by another actress, but that body looks super hot in this trailer.
It offers a sexy pan-up from the back. If she looks that good from the front, we're in for a pretty good time.

So...as the date eventually grows closer for the debut of the She-Hulk TV series, and the character seeps back into the public consciousness, here's an enlightening video from Perch about the reasons behind why Marvel did their terrible "ugly brute" changes
to Jennifer Walters back in 2014..which were only recently reversed in the new Rainbow Rowell She-Hulk 2002 run (now on issue #3..sorry, but I've read it and not much has actually happened yet...2 of the issues are mostly about eating ice cream and pizza - check for yourself if you think I'm kidding!) just in time for the TV show to make an impact.

Smart stuff from one of the go-to comics experts. Looking forward to the TV series this year!

OK, let's not veer off-topic because of this post, but here is the very last tweet (at least, she claims it is) by Jameela Jamil who will play Titania on the She-Hulk show. Good - maybe she can concentrate a bit more on bulking up for the role because she is rather skinny to be playing Mary McPherran.

I suppose as a Disney employee, this is a good company move. I just find it to be a trite gesture. How about she and others wait to see what actually changes take place instead of going with childish overreactions and conclusions without merit?

Here in Argentina it is worse. If we told her that she was too skinny to play the role of Titania, we would be treated as prehistoric males who only see women as objects and not as subjects.

Everyone on Youtube is saying the CGI is "Shrek" and cringe. That Titania costume looks absolutely nothing like the one in the comics (unless it's some kind of headfake). Will quietly reserve judgement other than that, but this doesn't seem like it's going to merit the same attention that The Boys has, for example. We'll have to see if the CGI gets better, and whether there are good transformations. I still think this series would have been much better off with a different actress playing She-Hulk. They're making so many references to the Incredible Hulk TV show anyway (which was eventually supposed to have a She-Hulk in the early 90s but it was cancelled), so why not do the dual-actor thing as well?

Given budget constraints I don't think we'll see a lot of the She Hulk persona. Probably 5 min in a show. Kind of like how Flash is though doing a blur is probably easier than an animated person interacting in an environment with other actors.

Which is foolish. All they have to do is hire a different actress to play She-Hulk. If they can track down the only Pakistani teenager in North America with any acting experience (even though that experience consists entirely of high school plays) to headline a major TV show, they should be able to find a muscular, beautiful woman who looks great in spandex and can be painted green. That's got to cost a lot less than major use of CGI in a TV show.

I mean, Garrett Gilchrist's use of two actresses in his "Shamelessly She-Hulk" Youtube series looks great (as does his Titania costume)
and it cost him practically nothing. Axel Braun's use of Chyna (RIP) in his parody probably cost only slightly more than that.

I might go in on enjoying the CGI if it ultimately looks better than the trailer, and if we get to see some good shrripping because of it, but I'm skeptical until convinced. We shall see.

I think they want to avoid the Lou Ferigno solution to this issue. Note that the CGI character is not built like a body builder in proportions. I think this maybe a too expensive attempt. Kind of reminds me of BSG NG where they avoided mechanical cylons cause the cost to animate them was too high and they refused to do the classic suits which, IMHO would have actually looked pretty good with some updating. Transforming characters are still too infeasible right now for a small budget show, especially when shows are being cancelled on other networks right and left.

There I was on the other thread arguing that they should hire Heard to play bad girls, and her shitting the bed in her personal life shouldn't come into it, here I am thinking there's no way I'd watch this because Jameelia, though being easy on the eye, is just too much of a twat.

Besides, there's enough general "Marvel" formula for this to be not for me. I'll wait for the porn parody.

This all makes a lot of sense but there's a very key issue when it comes to Disney and their preference for CGI and post production visual effects over practical effects, makeup and doing everything on set.

It comes down to what's the difference between, for example, a Hollywood makeup artist, armourer, or a stunt performer, even a grip, and the folks who do the video effects?

The difference is who has a union.

You can get video effects plebs from almost anywhere in the world, you can pay them in catfood and you can work them 24/7 and nobody knows them who will speak up for them, and they sure as fuck can't stand up for themselves because no union.

So expect Disney, because let's face is Disney are The Fucking Worst, to offload everything they possibly can onto the post production side of things, because they know that their dollar budgeted for wages goes a lot further in a room full of underpaid, overworked nerds, than it does regular production staff.

Ah yes, Sancho - I remember when that was publicized - it was in Boston. It's still on the theater's site. I think they brought it back a couple times, but not recently. Very much long for the pre-2014 era when events in the theater world could just be hot for hotness' sake. https://companyone.org/production/the-s ... ologues-2/

Batgirl - this might be the ultimate video for you - as a collector of low-budget transformations, I've had it for a quite a while. This is Jemma Valentine and Alyssa Reece lezzing out big time. Probably the only video in existence with two She-Hulks going at it. They'll probably see an uptick in sales pretty soon!

Here's some nice information!

A Youtube channel run by a comic speculator laid out the possible appearances of a whole bunch of B to D-list supervillains that will probably appear in the She-Hulk series as it settles into a villain-of-the-week comedy format. Other than The Abomination and Titania, chances are that the show may also at least briefly feature Frogman/Leapfrog, Porcupine, Baron Blood, Man-Bull, The Wrecking Crew, and The Leader. So, "first appearances" by all of those villains will be sought after and increase slightly in value, while Savage She-Hulk #1 is probably going to increase most of all (perhaps into the thousand dollar range).

Really wish there could be more female characters in nice costumes in this show for She-Hulk to collaborate with or contend against. Rumor is that Krysten Ritter might make an appearance as Jessica Jones, and maybe possibly there's a remote chance we might see an actual costumed Hellcat (Patsy Walker is supposed to be a friend of Jennifer's) or Tigra? We'll see.

It's a Disney MCU series though right? Doesn't that mean it'll be a few episodes and done?
Yes, but it's a comedy, so they'll try to cram Marvel memberberries and Easter Eggs into it in order to crack as many smiles as possible.
In that sense, I would compare it to the NBC TV DC-based show 'Powerless', which in its short run was able to guest-star the likes of Crimson Fox, Green Flame (Fire), and Adam West, for comedic effect. Only here, the guest frequency will probably be much higher.

I'm really hoping that there'll be an entire "jury of peers" consisting of nothing but supervillains. Just stuff 12 of them in the jury box, all in full makeup and costumes. Maybe I'm expecting too much of the writers, though....

Really playing up the comedy aspect from Bruce waking her ups with an airhorn to not wanting to Hulk out because it will ruin her outfit that she likes. But at least she saved her shoes.

Looks good, though the obligatory "she outdid the male version of Hulk in throwing the rock" is a bit trite and cliche. It's on my watch list!

August 17.

And I think this one is going to be one of the best of the Marvel series. The comedy seems well done, and She-Hulk looks better than I anticipated.
