...and yes, you will have a TV, a bluray player and electricity there (provided by an atomic powerplant run by monkeys).
-

Pick your Top10 TV SHOWS of all time
that you then will enjoy over and over again on that deserted island....at least until that powerplant melts down!

Let me start with these (in no particular order):
Married with children
Sopranos
Black Scorpion
Queen of Swords
Chuck
Simpsons .... replaced by ....Malcom in the Middle May 25, 2021
Banshee
Sea Hunt (the original)
The Office (US)
Arrow (would mostly watch only seasons 1-3) ..... replaced by ..... Batwoman May 25, 2021

Of course I would pick the show that fits to my avatar immediately, but right now, there isn't a whole season available... so I would modify the list in the future.
-

What are your picks?

By the way, I love black Scorpion and Queen of Swords but they are only one season long. Multiple seasons matter on a desert island!

Indeed, that's why I have the Simpsons within my picks with much over 30 seasons.
That should compensate enough for my "one season" choices. ;)

The Vikings - excellent show with great period feel, loads of action and semi - historical, the real life Game of Thrones.

The Wire - awesome telly.

Dream On - great fun with a liberal sprinkling of T & A - the 'Starfucker' line still cracks me up 30 years later

Rubicon - excellent political thriller

Black Sails - ain't seen it but mates say its good and it will be fun to watch something new where I don't know what happens

Police Squad - its fucking Police Squad, people.

Game of Thrones-- (I just won't watch the last season when it was written by retards)

Any David Attenborough series. That guys delivery could make watching paint dry interesting

Black Scorpion - its got the campiness and a good sprinkling of hot babes and the best SH gang beat down ever on mainstream telly

Space, Above and Beyond - ain't seen it but fancied some new scifi (new to me)

Close calls for the list were:-
Tour of Duty- good Vietnam War drama

Spaced - brilliant in- joke comedy where its great fun spotting all the references to movies.

The Mandalorian - ain't seen it yet but Black Sails won out on the new choice as it has the nudity, lol
How strange are the ways of the gods ...........and how cruel.

I am here to help one and all enjoy this site, so if you have any questions or feel you are being trolled please contact me (Hit the 'CONTACT' little speech bubble below my Avatar).

Police Squad! I have completely forgotten about that show. I think they may have made only 8 episodes or so if I am not mistaken. An obscure but excellent choice! My hat is off to you sir. A hidden gem indeed.

I don't want to get too off topic here, but I think Police Squad! was another example of a show so unique and different from anything on network television at the time that people were unable to find it or sample the fine series. It really was not compatible with any show in ABC's lineup at the time, or for that matter any show on network television either. With that dynamic in place, I imagine it was difficult for the network to figure out what timeslot to place the series, that programmers optimally like to place shows that go and flow together creatively, and Police Squad! was kind of like that one kid in the family who was exceptionally talented, brilliant, if a little excentric little kid, surrounded by average typical children who liked to tell fart jokes. There are a lot of examples of shows like that where you have brilliant, great, unique shows that did not fit the networks brand or identity of the time, kind of like Supergirl debuting on CBS, with them shuffling the show off to the more compatible CW network after season one. It is a shame they never made more Police Squad! episodes but at least we got to enjoy the series in it's movie incarnation of the Naked Gun series of films.

I don''t think they even aired most of the 8 Police Squad episodes before it got cancelled due to ratings. But we got the Naked Gun trilogy as a result.

The DVD commentary mentioned the show was cancelled because TV viewers weren't looking at the screen and therefore missing half the visual gags that made in so good. The network suggested it would work better at a movie where audiences would be watching the screen and not distracted.

There were plenty of shows that got cancelled because of bad time slots against shows that were ratings leaders.

My top shows to watch would be Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In and Get Smart. Five seasons of fun for each of them. Would you believe Barbara Feldon left the first because she was under contract to do the second.

I just accidentally happened upon a slew of Police Squad clips on YouTube. Unlike with a lot of sitcoms from years past, I find the humor found in these clips hold up very well, some of those clips are as hysterical today as when they first aired in the late 80's. I recommend folks check those clips out.

Damn ... how did I miss this thread for 1 year :D

Nice choices in the previous posts (surprised nobody picked Seinfield or Friends, but oh well), including the awesome but short Police Squad, which of course I include too along with:

-Arrested Development
-The Big Bang Theory
-Breaking Bad
-Brooklyn Nine-Nine
-Chernobyl
-Firefly (awesome but short again)
-The IT Crowd
-Rick & Morty
-The Sopranos
-Wayne (awesome but short again part 2)

Ok they are 11, nevermind :cool2:

For my superheroine fix:
Wonder woman '77
Supergirl (Seasons 1-3)
Justice League and Justice League Unlimited (animated series)

Fantasy/Sword & Sandals/Semi-Historical:
Game of Thrones
The Last Kingdom
Vikings (seasons 1 - 4)

Comedies:
The Big Bang Theory
Brooklyn 99

Sci-fi:
The Expanse

The last spot is a toss up between Battlestar Galactica (reboot) or Band of Brothers (mini-series)
Check out my superheroine-related short stories here:

I think I'd have to add Schitt's Creek to my list from a year ago.

I'll add two:

Ted Lasso
For All Mankind

Both are on Apple TV+. I have yet to find a person who gave Ted Lasso 3 or 4 episodes who didn't call it one of their favorite shows in years. They did a horrible job marketing it, as it isn't really what they made it out to be. If you like Schitt's Creek, this review made a comparison when discussing the "heart" of the show:

"For a perfect vision of this transition, Schitt’s Creek, perhaps the most acclaimed comedy of the new century, began in that snickering, detached, schadenfreude mode in 2015, and by the time it ended in 2020 was almost impossibly loving and kind and forgiving toward all its characters, in a way that is nigh unimaginable in Season One, Episode One."
https://www.patreon.com/posts/50553173

For All Mankind had several "sweaty palms/can't turn it off" moments, and one review I agree with called the season 2 finale the best episode of television in the last few years.
Sapphire Angel - Superheroine

Book 2 — Power Play (complete)
Book 3 — Deconstruction (complete)
Book 4 — Savage Dawn (complete)

Batman ‘66- the sixties girls and bat-traps, eventually batgirl, what more could you want?
The Avengers-you are needed Mrs Peele
Perils of Penelope Pitstop- who could say no to a kid’s cartoon about killing a girl for money? Ever notice, she never tries to have him caught? She is totally into it...
Supergirl- did not watch much after the first couple of season, but I appear to have time to catch up...
Wonder Woman- god, her breasts were amazing.
Wild Wild West- old west, beautiful girls and fantastical villains....
Nova- 40 years of science documentaries, nirvana
Star Trek - short skirts and red shirts, what more need be said?
Veronica Mars- not sure how many episodes I haves seen, but she is hot as fuck...
Game of Thrones-haven’t seen a single episode and I appear to be the only one. Might as well get caught up....

Sneakly , Re GOT, stop before the last episode because whatever ending you come up with in your head is bound to be 10 times better than the sack of crap they came up with.

"Justified" is awesome, some of the best one liners in last 20 years
Re a hit man coming down from New York -
"Is he any good?"
"He's killed more men than malaria"

Fantastic line

I have mad respect for any show where the plot is kicked off by the villain shitting in the hero's car.
Bert

Grin! Those full season plots do it for me. The writing is so good. Such intricate, complex stories.

A few I don't think have been mentioned...

1) The Mighty Boosh
2) Eyes on the Prize -- documentary series
3) Detectorists
4) Garth Marenghi's Dark Place (which admittedly can be a bit hit-n-miss.)
5) Hjernevask (aka 'Brainwashed') -- Norwegian documentary series which is actually a lot more interesting than it sounds
6) The Prisoner (is my Number 6 choice!)
7) Toast of London
8) Westworld
9) Police Squad (in color!)
10) The Clone Wars
