Hi All,

After many years, I have established a rather large collection of video files in this genre. Due to a recent incident involving a labrador retriever, I realized that my current backup options are inadequate (I lost numerous videos). Would anyone be willing to share their backup/online storage systems? These aren't exactly files that I am keen to add to Google Drive or OneDrive, so I'm curious what others use.

Thank you in advance!

External USB-powered hard drives are cheap. I have three. One I keep connected all the time; one I keep in a safe place in the house, and just periodically connect it to sync up with recent additions; one I keep offsite and swap every six months or so with the in-house backup, in case the house burns up while I'm not there.

BTW, on Windows, a Robocopy batch file is easy to set up to sync one drive/tree to another -- and costs nothing.
And if you're worried about somebody finding your drive and seeing what's on it, that's what disk encryption with password/key protection is for. BitLocker is adequate and likely to be hassle-free long-term because it's built into Windows (Professional).

I sued multiple back ups to USB flash drives and a USB powered hard drive so I have at least two copies of all files that I want. Most of them are kept in a fire proof lock box that I bought from an office supply store chain for about $50. Some drives now come with password protection.

G'Day

Depends on the scale you are after, I am a producer so my backup system is commercial scale.

I uses a HP ProLiant MicroServer which you can store up to 10TB data with RAID 0, 1 or 10, it also runs on 240GB SSD with AMD X3000 CPU and AMD GPU. or 10

The base model is around A$1000 with 4TB HDD, I used it for streaming and as a data bank.

Thanks
Ava

Hi Everyone,

Thank you for the responses so far! I had/have been using an external hard drive with Veracrypt (née TrueCrypt). So it sounds like I was on the right track, but not being diligent enough!

Thanks again, and please keep the responses coming.

I own many Western Digital external hard drives. They perfect for storing your favorite SHIP media. I recommend owning at least two external hard drives. All things come to an end and an external hard drive will eventually crash. I own six external hard drives for SHIP, personal use other than SHIP, and my side businesses.
