labels such as Anti-, Fat Possum and Hellcat. Not only that, he's produced records by his own band as well as those of NOFX (of Fat Wreck Chords),
Rancid and Pennywise among others. So he's a pretty busy guy.
Nonetheless, somehow he found the time to also start a comic book company with two other partners. Black Mask's most publicized title, unfortunately, is the Social Justice Warrior mess, Calexit, which beats readers over the head with a far-left political agenda about "punching Nazis" and generally being presumptuous and overbearing about its politics. But there are many other titles at Black Mask which are more artistic, and seek merely to entertain
and amaze. One of those is No Angel, the four-part series about a race of angels coming back to be reborn on Earth. That series is, amazingly enough. written by Adrianne Palicki. Yes, the super-hot actress who starred in the failed Wonder Woman TV pilot and played Bobbi Morse (Mockingbird) in Agents of SHIELD (and also played the very hot Lady Jaye in the absurd 2013 GI Joe movie). No Angel isn't particularly sexy, but it is very well written with astounding art, and comes highly recommended.
For sexy books on Black Mask, though, you can look as far as Godkiller. Written by Gurewitz's partner Mateo Pizzolo, the art by Amy Wieszczyk is quite unusual. It's not realistic - it's more of a dark and dreamy abstract style mixed with a bit of cartoonishness. If I had to offer a description, I'd say it reminds me of a cross between the artist who did Vampblade/Zombie Tramp and the kind of ethereal style you see in Neil Gaiman's works such as Black Orchid. Your mileage may vary.
The story of Godkiller centers around a post-apocalyptic New York City. Someone exploded a nuke in the center of Manhattan which took out everything except the outer boroughs. But for those still living in the area, the air and water quality is poor, and people have to go around wearing gas masks. A valuable currency in the city is a black-market trade in human blood and organs that can cleanse and repair people's damaged bodies. In this milieu arises the orphan, Tommy, and the prostitute, Halfpipe. Together they escape the outer ring of the city in order to find a human heart for Tommy's dying sister, Lucy.
There are some very sexy moments in this comic, mostly involving the Halfpipe character, who reminds me a bit of Action Lab's Dollface. For example, in Issue #2, Halfpipe and her hooker colleague Angelfuck put on a tantalizing lesbian display for their client, only to murder him for his blood and organs so they can bring back something valuable to their pimp, Beezal (see below). I'll be investigating more of this series and I'll report back.
