Heads up to those who are interested in backing indie comics which still have beautiful female characters with superpowers.
Here's another one which looks like it's going to be great: Beautiful Soldiers by Alabama-based writer and artist Lashawn Colvin.
The book is about four young women who are trained by a headmistress to defend the earth using their amazing powers.
Lashawn believes strongly in female power but also makes sure that the ladies look amazing while having their adventures.

But she recently decided to turn the whole thing into a full-length graphic novel.
So Beautiful Soldiers will be launching on or around November 18, 2020.

Aficionados of the crowdfunded indie comics scene will recognize that the artwork on the Kickstarter page is created
by none other than Mississippi's renowned Canaan White...known for his work on books such as Antonio Brice's "Brand" series.
Not only should Canaan's art be a draw, but also Lashawn has recently opened her own business: a comic book store which is also a gaming lounge and coffee shop. It's called Comics and Geeks and is located in Montgomery AL. As of next week, the debut issue of Heroineburgh Comics #1 will be on sale in her store (our third outlet in the state of Alabama..we're also in Madison and Tuscumbia). As far as we know, she is only one of a couple black women in the U.S. to own a comic shop. We hope she does very well!
If you are rolling through that part of the country, stop and visit Lashawn, buy a drink and support the store.
