I remember when this date used to be a tongue in cheek, smirk and a wink kind of thing for all us closet geeks back in the day. One of those things where you would be sitting in a class of about 30 and the teacher would announce "Today is May the fourth" and maybe 3 of you would give that knowing side-eye to each other. . Well now the jig is up. Everyone is in on the joke and it's become a "thing".
Not that I really mind, it's still fun to say it and at least when someone says it back to you you still feel like you're in knowing company. Today geekdom is running rampant and I feel pretty good about it. So, long live the Fourth!
