The San Diego Comic Con starts tomorrow (goes until sunday)!
So I hope for a rather MASSIVE bunch of new pictures, videos and facts from the show in the next days.
The pilot episode is shown there on saturday…and we should read a lot about it on the weekend.
Damn, I envy all folks who have the chance to watch it on the weekend!
I am really thrilled about the next days….

Have I mentioned it already?
81 days left!

So, here is a new teaser:

A nice, short summary regarding the events before the pilot episode.
Nothing really new (except the lighthouse scene), but a good teaser!

And I wanna show a really interesting set picture with Batwoman in action!
As I read the first outdoor set (with public access) incl. Batwoman in Vancouver:

Image

First of all, here are the links to the guy who took the picture and published it:
https://canadagraphs.weebly.com/
https://twitter.com/canadagraphs

About the picture:
Well, it is clear to say that Batwoman (Ruby Rose) seems to protects a child, while she has a Batarang ready for the bad guy(s)!
She now is wearing to “normal/standard” Batwoman suit, and not the only slightly modified Batman suit from the pilot (and episodes 2 and 3(?)) anymore.

Batwoman starts NEXT month on October 6th on the CW! (sundays on TV, mondays on the CW app)

When you worry if the title character will survive filming the first season. Considering how much of her face is covered by the cowl, maybe the show should require her to do less of her stunts so they don't have to recast the role because of injuries.

I grew up when lead actors died and had to be replaced to keep their shows going.

Full video from Ruby here:

I saw two of her stuntwomen.
However even with that cowl, it's difficult to use them for close distances, if the scene isn't shot very fast.
Some shot pictures can be found here (with Ruby and one of the stuntwomen):
https://canadagraphs.weebly.com/batwoma ... 104-scenes

I hope the stunt folks know exactly which stunts Ruby can/should make and which don't.

I may have asked this question before, so sorry if I did.
But are they going to emphasize that Batwoman is Jewish?

Yes, the producers have said they want to do like the comics and directly incorporate her cultural/religious belief system into the tv show. Being Jewish is a large part of the comic, and it'd be a shame if they didn't do the same with the tv show. If people can put up with Huntress' Catholicism, then why not Kate's religion?

I love that they are going to focus on her being Jewish AND a lesbian!!! A big part of our lifes are our love lifes and what we want to do to those we find attractive so she will hopefully focus on the sexual tensions when she fights other females...I hate seeing that she had to have surgery, she is such an amazing lady, love her!!

Worth noting that the 'stunt injuries' she had surgery for were from something she did BEFORE Batwoman, not during... and that the type of surgery she's having should make it pretty safe for her to do her own stunts in the future if she'd like. The only real concern was that misaligned disks were threatening to actually SEVER her spinal cord, something that ANYONE with herniated disks can have happen to them if they leave it be for to long... with them re-aligned she should be right as rain with no reason not to do her own stunts if thats what she'd like to do.

I do like that the part seems to be true to form in the lesbian and Jewish.

The question is do they give her original villains, in the early preview, they show an adversary who may as well be called Harley Quinn.

When Arrow started taking Batman and Nightwing villains, and making their conflict with Queen I thought it was a mistake.

Well, her arch-nemesis is Alice (main villainess for Batwoman, from the comics):

So far, only 2 other villains have been confirmed:
Thomas Elliot/Hush and Magpie

So, I guess there will be some villains who already had issues with Batman.
But Gotham is really big, and has A LOT of villains.
Enough for several heroes/heroines.

Six Words..............

I am not impressed by Batwoman.

Now I continue,

This is one of the most lackluster and disappointing debuts on television. It does not have the same flare as Supergirl's first episode. Supergirl's first episode answered many simple questions. Who is Supergirl? What takes her so long to become Supergirl? What's her backstory? This episode does not answer many basic questions about Batwoman. I feel like I do not know her besides her desire to be with Sophie, and she thought her sister was dead after an ancient.

Her father's overprotective behavior was poorly written. The narrative suggested that he was not pleased with her being lesbian. Then, we learned he was afraid to lose her in war if she joined the military. The writers did a horrible job of trying to lead us to that point.

This episode feels like the writers crammed too much into one episode. Who the fuck is who? Who is Batwoman's stepsister? They barely introduced us to her. Who is her stepmother?

I feel like I don't know a damn person after the first episode. The first episode should let us get to know basic information about characters and show their personalities. Who the fuck is who besides Beth?

"Sanity is so pedestrian." Alice was probably the best part and has the best lines.

Terrible writing which seems to be the hallmark of CW superhero shows. They tried to imitate the Batman origin story from the last movie with less success. Too much information with so poor structure so it skips to the next bit before you know what's being presented.

You would think they could have done a better pilot with all the lead time and the better job they did in the crossover last season.

Yep
Waste of an hour
Story so generic, derivative, so Berlanti, where's the creativity?
Almost made me glower

Villainess doesn't turn me on
Batwoman could but not with that personality
Black girl's kinda cute
Yvonne Craig status will not be surpassed by this

Twist at the end predictable and came many episodes too soon
I want my hour back

If there's one thing the arrowverse is good at, that would be the fight choreography so I don't expect this show to be any different on that regard.

believe it or not, I have NOT seen it yet...I did get to see Sophie and Alice this weekend at NYCC and my Batwoman was a huge hit!! I love the fact that Batwoman has a sexual interracial relationship with Sophie, that is amazingly hot and I really really hope Alice puts Batwoman into some kinky lesbian relationship scenarios....I really wish Ruby would have been there, I would totally ask her about fighting female villains if she would consider it a turn on as they fight or wrestle

Doh! I've been checking the forum more regularly than normal today just to get an upfront idea of how the show is, and the one person I was waiting to comment hasn't seen it!!Seriously though, I am sad to hear the majority didnt like what they saw but hope things will pick up. HBO Spain has picked up the show here and I should be able to see it on the 8th. I'm still hopeful for it despite the comments.

Looked okay. They rushed a lot of plot into the first episode but that's good because now that's done and they can focus on the good stuff. Show like this you wouldn't expect the first episode to be the best, or even one of the best, so I'm optimistic.

Your statement is one of the most illogical statements on this forum, and is a reflection of issues with America's consumers. People should expect a quality product. Why wouldn't any expect the first episode to be good? A TV show needs to set a good first impression to influence viewers to continue watching. Why would I want to watch the next episode?

^^^ While GPC is a bit harsh right above there, I believe he's pretty on-target. While pilot episodes have to deliver a lot of background in a tight window, if they don't put their best foot forward right off, it's certainly going to hurt their ratings on the next show. The pilot episode for Supergirl was one of the series best, imho. And yes, some shows take some time to get their footing and relax into their characters but it gets harder and harder for producers and show runners to do that when shows are pulled off a schedule in sometimes only half a dozen episodes.

Because it's a series. A series is allowed time to improve. How many great TV series have great first episodes? How many have great first seasons?

I mean I understand your point in theory, I just can't ever think of more than a handful of TV series that were that good from the first episode.

To me, for a first episode, what matters is am I interested? Do I see potential? And in this I do. That's different to expecting or demanding the episode be flawless.
