Every holiday season these terrible xmas lights show up and make a super annoying shattering sound when I mouse over them.

I hate these things so much and I really wish the forum owner would get rid of them permanently.

I was wondering if there was an option for users to turn it off?

After some digging, I was able to disable that stupid overlay with adblocker. It should be noted that the overlay actually prevents users from accessing the search bar.

Yes guys go into the UCP
(user control panel) its found when you click on your name to look at the private messages etc.
Go into BOARD PREFERENCES
and ...this is the clever part...turn off Smashable Lights.

But I suspect MH will be taking them down any day now anyhow

Every year people take longer to take down their holiday lights. Some of my neighbors figure not lighting them is good enough. :)
