This is an outrage I tell you! No worse! Its an IN-RAGE!

Yes can't wait for the 300lb contestants now that its not about body but about brains. Hey when do we end all those male shirts off scenes... you know... cause its all about brains and not about the body for men.

Don't you just love how everyone else on the "rainbow" tells people what they do is NOBODY'S business yet, when it comes to straight men, its everyone's job to tell us what we're to like and not like.

Sure, OK, whatever. I'm sure this will get so much better when the 300lb girls show up to show off their social justice degrees.

BTW SJW people, please stay out of model railroading. Go be a child with a magnifying glass somewhere else.

This will be awesome, instead of 36-24-36 they will comment on IQ? Or will this also become brain shaming? Anyways, America will send a 'true' representative of the American Woman to the Miss Universe Contest. I am sure she will 'stand out' among the representatives from around the world. I am also sure she will win and just imagine how the world will envy us!

I only hope the ratings for the show stand up as well...

They already do brain shaming, but usually they edit out the worst that can't memorize speeches.

Well supposedly the smaller pageants that feed into this one still have swimsuit competitions so the pool of candidates still have to pass that test.

Heck just kill the thing. Does anyone watch it? So much for a woman's body, a woman's choice. Kind of like when feminists demanded the car girls in Australia be banned.

While I just saw this news today, my guess is that ratings were already in the toilet, so the pageant runners are trying a 'hail-mary' play to save their phoney-baloney jobs.

Might get the curiosity factor one time, but I think the issue here is no one is going to watch 2018 Bert Parks sing to Miss America any more than people are going to watch 14 hours of a telethon over Labor Day weekend anymore.

It is had outlived it's purpose

You can see good looking women with nothing on, since this show was all about body objetfication.

Anybody here watching it when it had a swimsuit competition? No.

Sex sells. But there's more and better sex selling elsewhere so it's time to find a plan B.

My guess is pageants are going to try to go after some of those massive talent show audiences.

By all means though guys, be outraged about a thing you didn't care about until it tried to adapt in order to survive.

I also don't watch Rue Paul's drag race show but I think I'd be outraged a bit if PC busy bodies or conservative religious jerks meddled in the show and got portions of it removed. And clearly the pageant has some viewers or it wouldn't be airing at all.

"What's the big deal" is not an excuse. If its no big deal then why remove the swimsuit contest.

BTW a good portion of the actresses we've liked in the past came from contests like this. Linda Carter. Gal Gadot. Vanessa Williams.

And you talk about people not watching the show... how many of the busy body SJW types who demanded the removal of the swimsuit section actually ever watched the pageants? Probably none. Just like when they meddle in comic books, video games etc they don't buy the stuff, read the stuff. Marvel sales are in the toilet. Where are all those buyers? So I'd say right back at them. They didn't watch the pageant so what do they care. How is it a big deal if they don't care about the pageant?

And its a bit convenient that the things getting trashed are all something predominantly straight men like. What happened to "mind your own business". Sorry but there is no such thing as "toxic masculinity". If women want to compete in a swimsuit contest or be race car girls (heck they volunteer for the second) then its NOBODY'S BUSINESS since its a woman's body a woman's choice.

BTW people here better hope that "justice" meddling doesn't come here. Hey not a whole lot of people like Superheroine naughtiness so why not just burn that house to the ground too? No one's a hero in this case. There are no good intentions.

But its NOT SURVIVING IS IT? How can it be still called a beauty pageant if you stop judging physical appearance, and therefore whats the point. If they decided to scrap it completely then fair enough. But to pretend its something its not, thats why I am both depressed at the state of the world and annoyed that people think its ok to sell false goods.

My caps are for emphasis. Caps are only shouting in prose

Why would you be outraged or offended about something that doesn't concern you? If somebody wants to complain about a show that's between them and the show, if you have no stake in it why do you feel compelled to speak out? For a guy who rails against political correctness you seem to be very quick to be outraged on other people's behalf. This doesn't look like censorship either, this just looks like folks wanting to change how they run their show. And that's a choice too.

And look, this talk about a reduction in the amount of 'things straight men like' is ridiculous. We have the Internet. The quantity and quality of 'things that straight men like' in the thousands of years of human history up to this point pales into complete insignificance when compared to the amount of 'things straight men like' that are now available. By the time the average straight male with internet access is twenty he will have seen more tits than every Roman Emperor, every French monarch and every pre-digital era pornographer put together. Our eyes and boners are living through a golden age. Like the man says in Gladiator; Are you not entertained? Porn, even the softcore stuff, used to be rare, a smutty etching here, a dirty postcard there. Now it's everywhere. Nobody is taking it away, the Hot Women Are Everywhere toothpaste is out of the tube.

Back in the day when beauty pageants and stuff were one of the few delivery systems to get a bit of tits and ass onto the screens of red blooded men you would have had a point. But as a source of hotness they are absolutely redundant now, so why not let them do something else? Literally nothing significant is being lost from the collective human wank bank.

The idea that SJWs are just going to roll up and drive an internet bulldozer over this place is pretty daft by the way. What we've essentially got here is a fanfic/cosplay site. I've never met an SJW who didn't love fanfic and cosplay.

Oh damned good question. Why are SJW types who don't watch the pageant concerned. Very good question. What business was it of their's? Good question. Why did the swim suit part (the highest rated part of the show BTW) have to be removed when the people complaining had NO INTEREST in the show. Very good question.

That door most definitely swings both ways. BOTH WAYS.

The entire beauty pagent industry (including the horribly exploitive childrens pagents) is outdated and should have disappeared decades ago.

Really i can't see women over watching this with or without the swimsuit.

I suspect the drop in the male viewing audience will translate into a dive in rating, dropping the appeal for commercial sponsors may make this short lived.

I saw it was Gretchen Carlson who actually was part of getting rid of the competition. She was the Fox News Talking head that sued for sexual harassment then went to (I believe) MSNBC for a bit. She's in charge the pageant. Now was she pressured? Got complaints? Was over zealous?

Honestly I think the answer is they're probably trying to compete with talent shows like America's Got Talent and The Voice. The demographic of people who want to see hot women in bikinis is completely sated by the Internet, trying to compete with that is commercial suicide, so they're doing the only thing possible to make the show relevant again. If you have Miss America as a talent show you're going to get some good acts and probably some good TV, if you have Miss America as a talent show where the most talented contestant can still lose because of her tits you're not going to get anybody who takes their act seriously, and the audiences won't respect it either.

This idea that anybody would watch TV to see hot women is about twenty years out of date. There's so much sexualised content flying freely around the internet these days even the pornographers are going out of business.
