Top Five Favorite TV Series

#1 Buffy The Vampire Slayer So much here to like. Seven years worth of shows, fantastic writing, usually at least a little peril in every episode and a sexy heroine who could play vulnerable as well as powerful. For a fairly mainstream show, Buffy took some serious punishment over the years, and the...

Re: The Fundamental Question

That's a tough question to get a definitive answer to. I think people can get here from different places. For example, there are women on the forum who share this fetish. They may be coming at it from completely different angles. Personally, I was 8 or 9 years old when I saw a comic book cover depic...

Re: The Fundamental Question

Boy, we're fooling them huh! LOL! I get that you're kidding, but in the real world I AM them. Violence, particularly against women, truly sickens me. That's the weird dichotomy of this fetish. And I think that's why it particularly applies to superheroines - they aren't real. The idea of a powerful...

Re: The Fundamental Question

All these years later I've still never had a stronger reaction to any comic than I do to that cover. Supergirl is so powerful. Seeing her unconscious, or barely conscious, immediately makes you wonder how she was defeated. Her upturned palms and splayed out fingers make her look so helpless. The roo...

Re: Supergirl Season 6 (the final season)

Supergirl was a victim of The Asshole Effect. Andrew Kreisberg was one of us. Sadly, he was also a titanic asshole who so bullied and harassed people on set that he got himself fired. In the aftermath of all that the powers that be handed the show over to do-gooders who eliminated all the sexy and a...

Re: Supergirl1984 - Scene Analysis #1

Impressive analysis. I enjoy that scene too, but from a more simplistic perspective. For some reason I just love the sequence where Supergirl tangles with the huge loader. Her look of concentration, and the fact that the loader doesn't just stop as soon as she latches onto it but keeps rolling forwa...

Re: Is Helen Slater still the definitive live action Supergirl?

That's an interesting question. I'm a huge fan of the character and I looked forward to the release of both the movie and the TV show with great anticipation. I have great affection for both versions, flawed as they each are. It just never occurred to me to compare them. That's kind of weird. I thin...

The U.S. election

The New York Times just published an explosive piece on Trump's taxes. Everywhere they looked, through two decades of documents, they found rampant evidence of cheating, deception and a man in increasingly desperate circumstances. Mr. McGheeny, you may well be inclined to take shevek's five paragraphs of criticism of your excellent work to heart. That is entirely your prerogative. Re: Living in the shadow of the corona virus

The simple truth of national level economics is that you borrow money to stimulate the economy when bad times hit. When times are good you reduce spending to get debt under control and prepare for the next downturn. Bush and then Obama did their part by borrowing massively to bail out a seriously da...

Most of those precautions are just for show, so people feel more safe. You're not going to catch covid from briefly walking past someone. It's prolonged, close, indoor exposure that transmits the virus. If you want to stay safe, wear a mask indoors when exposed to people, avoid crowds and maintain s...

Years ago, He Who Shall Not Be Named had a beautiful Black woman in his group of actresses and she starred in many SHIP videos. HWSNBN wasn't known for continuing to produce content that didn't sell. Based on that, comments here and the poll results so far, I'd say Gus is just flat wrong.
