Re: The Fundamental Question

For me it particularly stems from watching the Lynda Carter Wonder Woman TV show as a teenager. Particularly the CBS years, where it seemed that Wonder Woman completely outclassed the relatively ordinary villains she was facing. Lots of hapless henchmen getting tossed across the room. Wonder Woman s...

Variety: Wonder Woman 1984 Release Date Pushed to Christmas

Wonder Woman 1984 Release Date Pushed to Christmas  With Tenant raking in $20 million last weekend, I would have thought the way was clear to start reopening theaters. I'd have expected Wonder Woman to double that take, and the next two weekends as well until Black Widow opens. The film woul...

Re: Poll: Is Helen Slater still the definitive live action Supergirl?

I go with Melissa Benoist just because I did see the Helen Slater movie back in the day, and it was unwatchable even when it was free on cable.

I do think the movie costume has cleaner lines and is more iconic, but as something I'm actually going to watch, TV all the way.

Re: D.C. layoffs

So in short, reduce the total amount of titles, hire the top 1/3 of writers and artists, limit crossovers and have most storylines within one title (with the ramifications perhaps reverberating to other titles on occasion), and allow for some fantasy and sexualization in the industry without making...

Re: How would YOU do a Wonder Woman movie?

Hmmm. I really loved the steampunk aesthetic of the first film, so I would set it in the 1920s. Gal Godot looked amazing, so keep her and the costuming. I would bring back her weakness of being made mortal by bondage. Nazis, lots of female Nazis, Fausta would be a fun main villain. Have Jim Weather...

Re: Justice League Snyder Cut - March 18 2021

4:3 is pretty awesome. I invest a lot of effort when buying a computer or screen into getting something taller than 16:9, but usually fall short. The reality is that most people, though they may dislike it, have a 16:9 TV set, so it makes sense to put out films in that format. Reading between the b...

Re: Justice League Snyder Cut - March 18 2021

Ultimately, I don't think the Snyder Cut fixes Justice League, because ultimately, the problem with the movie is that it has Death of Superman jammed into the middle of it. It doesn't fit there, because it's an end-of-cycle storyline and they're trying to put it into the origin story, and it complet...

Re: My favorite James Bond movie is....

My favourite Bond girl is probably Carey Lowell in the next movie. I liked her attitude, short hair, in that dress. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/02/9b/08/029b08617f7786c71c711a6eb9d24d72.jpg Yeah, Carey Lowell is definitely one of the better Bond girls. She's gorgeous, and she also seems like her...

Re: The Suicide Squad (2021)

To me, The Suicide Squad (2021) answers the question "How grotesque can we make superheroes before the audience starts to tune out?" It's not a badly made movie, it's just one I found difficult to enjoy. On the plus side, I found Idris Elba to be a solid upgrade from Will Smith. His abilit...

Re: Be “The” Superheroine Casting Guru

Felicia Day would have made a great MJ in a Spider-Man movie.

Angelina Jolie would have made a sexy but formidable Catwoman.

Back in the day, Jane Russell would have made a great Wonder Woman.

Re: Question for lift/carry fans

If you go with the OTS carry, make sure they use good form. In a proper OTS, the pelvis is on top of the shoulder, so that the ass is sticking up in the air. Too often, the actor doing the carrying doesn't lift the subject of the carry high enough, so that the rib cage is on top of the shoulder, and...

Re: Did Formicida knock Wonder Woman out?

Is it it my imagination, or is she in blackface? I remember having straight black hair and a very pale complexion. They seem to have been going for a Jekyll and Hyde type transformation when she turned into Formicida, so she wears a curly wig, puts on a sexy leotard, and gets a heavy coat of spray ...

Re: Hell Has Frozen Over! And That's a Good Thing!

Yes, Lynda Carter typically wore "sensible" heels of 2-3 inches when she was playing Wonder Woman. She had a pair of flat heeled boots for stunt work.

As Diana Prince, she also alternated between heels and flats.

Re: In my opinion, the greatest peril from the Lynda Carter Wonder Woman series

A lot of the particular look a woman has comes from the type of exercise she is doing. Back in the day, Lynda Carter worked out more than an hour a day, doing a trampoline workout and swimming, and probably some dance and calisthenics for muscle tone. As a naturally voluptuous woman, she seems to ha...

Re: Hart to Hart (1979-1984)

The lack of reality aside, Stefanie Powers did look great in those leotards, didn’t she? Damn skippy! She was 37 when the show started in 1979, but she also made the movie Escape from Athena the same year, where she does a non-nude striptease and spends the third reel running around in a wetsuit to...

Re: RIP Queen Elizabeth

I rather like this picture of the queen that has been making the rounds: QEII.jpg She had the "Aardman Animation" smile. But seriously, I think the secret to her success was that nobody respected her role more seriously than she did. And honestly, I wonder if we'll ever see her like again....

Re: Lawn care and car repair videos

My latest find has been "city walking" videos, which are typically a first person view of someone walking around a city, often at night in the rain or snow. They are relaxing, and somewhat exotic. Here is a nice one walking around Japan in the rain: https://youtu.be/NNhzYkXE1i4 And this on...

Re: Wonder Woman 3 cancelled

Here is the Hollywood Reporter article that broke the story. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-features/wonder-woman-3-not-moving-forward-dc-movies-1235276804/ What appears to be going on is that James Gunn and Peter Safran have put together an outline for their "Phase 2" of t...
