Re: The Boys (Season Two)
This show is definitely better cast and better written than any Arrow-verse show. They've also shown that it's possible to make subtle political or social commentaries without being preachy or cringe-worthy.

Re: Is Helen Slater still the definitive live action Supergirl?
I'm afraid I think Melissa Benoist is the superior Supergirl by a country mile. Helen Slater's movie wasn't just campy; it was a really bad film, and if Helen Slater has talent, she wasn't allowed to display it. Her portrayal got across very little of what makes the character memorable. Acting-wise...

For me, it was the look above all else. Whenever I imagine any situation with Supergirl in it, whether wholesome or not

Re: Poll: Is Helen Slater still the definitive live action Supergirl?
The definitive live action Supergirl? I think part of the problem is the question, while seemingly straightforward, can actually be taken several different ways. The question begs a comparison between Helen and Melissa. But compared based on what criteria? Attractiveness? Costume? Acting skill? Qua...

Re: Thai and other non-English superheroine tv shows
Darna, you mean? They're getting a new actress to portray her in a TV series next year. I hope they don't drop the ball on the costume, though, as I've been hearing that they want to change the costume into "something more practical", which usually doesn't bode well.

Do missed opportunities in TV series count? Like this one in Lynda Carter's WW.
Then there's this brief scene in Darna were the heroine is briefly controlled by some monster before she is able to resist.

Re: Superman and Lois spin off show
^This is more of a family drama set in Superman's/Clark's world. Most of the Arrow-verse just think it's a good idea to keep adding new sidekicks until the main hero gets less and less screentime.

Re: Heroines defeated by regular thugs/weaker opponents
I like this, too. But the set-up could make or break it for me. E.g. having every thug carry around kryptonite as if it can be purchased at the 7-11 is lazy while having an ordinary Joe come upon one by accident can be a promising start.

After the failed WW pilot, and all the SJW crap going around, I was expecting the worst, story-wise and costume-wise, though hoping for the best. The costume turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Not exactly what I was hoping for, but close enough to what I thought was the "classic" SG loo...

Frankly it would be a silly SCENE to be proud of as basically it DOES just objectify her for the sequence in the name of humor... but one is free and should be free to be proud of working out and getting their bodies in shape... and shouldn't need to feel wrong for having it and in a perfect world ...

She was rather incompetent as a superheroine, and in a way, that was part of the appeal, I guess. Similar to how we loved Yvonne Craig's Batgirl for getting captured by villains so easily. Seeing them all cocky, knowing that they will be in trouble soon just makes us want to watch them more.
