Still out of town not back til Monday. Will this hold you for a bit? Sue's eyes were clouded by confusion, doubt and about 20ccs of a new rohaphyl derivative called Brain Buster. Consequently her tongue was thick in her mouth, her irises were wide as sewer covers and she could barely hold her head e...

Re: The Capture
For me the capture is 3/4 of the charm, especially for a superheroine. Seeing her powers subverted, or tricked - or just plain overpowered - is where the appeal is. Couldn't agree more with damselbinder here. Time spent thinking through the best, most ingenious takedown of a heroine is time well sp...

Re: WONDER WOMAN VS THE INSECTOID
Attack of the Crab Monsters was a 50s B-movie classic with slightly imperiled women. Had one of my favorite lines of dialog ever when one of the male leads says upon hearing the ominous sound of the giant attacking crabs: "Sounds like a kid running beside a picket fence with a stick" "...

I happened to catch Neil Degrass Tyson on Colbert recently. He said that we share 99% of our DNA with chimps and yet the language barrier has never been cracked to any genuine degree. On that basis, trying to communicate with alien species (or hell even species on our own planet such as dogs or dolp...

Re: Is the Superhero/Superheroine Genre Losing Steam?
Excellent scene, I will admit, but my problem with Routh was always that his face looked like it was always CGI in that movie. It wasn't the same at all when he was on Legends of Tomorrow. I blame the movie's cinematographer and director for that.

As a fan of Westerns, I mourn the fact that so very few of them are made these days. In the 50s and 60s they were everywhere. I wonder if super films will go the same route.

Is the Superhero/Superheroine Genre Losing Steam?
I've started this discussion in its own thread, as requested. I feel there is still plenty of life in the genre but it takes good writing, acting and production value to hit a homerun these days. A billion dollar mega-hit isn't nearly as easy as it was four years ago, pre-Covid. What do people think?
