I know this is going to trigger a whole bunch of Edna Mode "No Capes" quotes, but hear me out...
I am working on a custom about a female version of Robin, and the question came up about how long the cape should be. And I'd love to hear some opinions.
I think it basically comes down to the models read end. In this case, she'll be wearing some sexy short shorts, if that matters to anyone.
As I see it there are basically two options:
1) Just above the butt
2) Just below the butt.
Just below the butt means you can't see her ass when she's wearing the cape, unless she spins or moves in such a way that the cape moves. I think there's a certain appeal to this. There's something about the heroine moving around and seeing a flash of her ass here and there as opposed to it being overtly in your face - so to speak. It would certainly look more super-heroine and less slutty.
Just above the butt means it never obscures the view. Straightforward and simple. Leaves a lot of opportunity to see it. But I think that might look kinda silly.
Thoughts?
Capes!
It depends on the model and story. If the model has a nice butt, then the cap can be just above the butt. Why does a superheroine need to be modest? A superheroine should be allowed to express herself in her costume as well. Looking sexy doesn't mean she wants sex. She feels confident about her body and wants to show it off. Those are just my opinions.
Remember this is YOUR custom. Pick the choice that is best for YOU.

I was hoping that the new SG costume would feature a shorter cape so that we could see Melissa's cute butt more since they've deprived us of the legs but I suspect that's a lost cause.

My personal opinion is just above the butt but, as said above, pick what you feel is best for your custom.
I am for option 1,5 - that is "at half butt" so we see the bottom of the heroine's cheeks when she's standing, and a lot more when she's moving.TIEnTEEZ wrote: ↑4 years ago

My own pteference is at the bottom of the butt
As this allows it to ride up and give us a tantalizing glimpse in action scenes
Longer just gets in the way

How strange are the ways of the gods ...........and how cruel.

I know this will be difficult for some members to read, but I will say it anyway. No cape (long or short). It is a useless accessory. It makes shooting many activities, like action scenes, in a vidoe more challenging for producers and frequently gets in the way of the actress's assets.
Can't agree with that. The cape gives grace, elegance and a certain nobility to the heroine. It is the most heroic element of the costume. This is the first thing we think about when we talk about superheroes. A Supergirl without a cape can't be taken seriously.viking wrote: ↑4 years agoI know this will be difficult for some members to read, but I will say it anyway. No cape (long or short). As for the difficulties for producers, the Japanese GIGA producers does not seem to have such problems because half of their heroines have long capes and their movie's action scenes are among the best of the SHIP kind.

Depends on the custom's intent or tone doesn't it?
Is it a 1960s Robin and 1960s Batman show tone? Then below butt ala Burt Ward.
Is it a porny Robin and a porny tone? Then maybe don't cover her butt.
I dunno. Cape doesn't have to stay below butt for long. Early on, villain or henchmen grabs cape and cuts cape length with scissors. Oh, the humiliation! Maybe really fast and multiple times cause he's a speedster.
Or maybe he grabs cape and wraps it around her neck twice, choking her. Maybe he wraps and binds her arms with it.
Or maybe henchmen lassoes cape from behind and yanks it up via a rope through pulley system on the ceiling and she has now limited walking distance. And easily toyed with.
Or push her over, grab cape, and drag her around the room with it.
Aside from initial appearance of unperturbed Robin, all manner of cape repositioning can happen as early on as you want. The butt will be seen! And should be grabbed and spanked/paddled/whipped.
Apologeeze, I presume too much. It's your custom. Do it your way!

As some users know my opinion here, which seems not to be very popular: I prefer long capes with a final length between the knees and the ankles. A heroine's cape has to be long and floating for me and there are some ways to show her ass, like drag it aside when filmed from behind.
Interesting take.theScribbler wrote: ↑4 years agoDepends on the custom's intent or tone doesn't it?

This video will be Robin vs. Catwoman, and Robin's gonna get captured and the cape removed pretty early. So it's mostly just for the initial fight scene.

just like Batgirl.from 1960's!! she was perfect
Any cape that you can soak in chloroform and wrap around a heroine's face is okay by me.
So I guess all of them. :/

Now that I think about, I think this idea might have been suggested by DrDominator originally.batgirl1969 wrote: ↑4 years agogreat idea!!! a cape used in the heroines bondage experience...add humiliation to her using her own damn cape!!Damselbinder wrote: ↑4 years agoAny cape that you can soak in chloroform and wrap around a heroine's face is okay by me.
