How'd you like to buy my entire collection?

First of all, I appologize for posting this here. I love the superheroine peril genre and I have supported the genre for 15 years. But I have to get rid of all of it.
This could be a good oportunity for you to start a collection or add a huge volume of stuff to yours. I am selling off an external hard-drive in order to save my marriage.
For the last 10 to 25 years I’ve collected women’s wrestling and superheroine peril in one form or another. VHS tapes, DVD’s, and then finally downloads. Over that time, I’ve downloaded nearly everything I’ve purchased onto the same external hard-drive.
Now, in order to save my marriage I’m getting rid of all of it. I’ve already sold just about all the VHS and DVD’s. Now I’m selling my external hard-drive as well. The hard-drive has around 700 gig worth of women’s wrestling and superheroine peril videos. There is also some comic and artwork as well. To buy all of this material would take several thousand dollars. Some of it you can't even get anymore. But I’m getting rid of it all for 500 bucks. If you are interested in buying the hard-drive please email me at [email protected]. I will send you a 24 page list of what’s on the drive. The list doesn’t even show everything, but it will take too long to put everything on the list. The list shows most of it. It might take you the rest of your life just to watch everything on this drive.
By the way I’ve already checked it out and I can legally sell the hard-drive as long as I sell it as is and I don’t keep any copies of the material on the drive. That is exactly what I’m doing. I am selling this drive as is and I am not keeping any copies. Please do not contact me with any trade offers, or with any offers to buy “some” of the stuff on the drive. I am selling the entire drive as is. If you want the list I’ll send it to you. I’m going to take 500 bucks or best offer for the list.
Contact me if you are interested in buying the hard-drive and I will send you a list of what all is on it.

I think it can be sold.
There is a clause under the First Sale Doctrine Section 109(a) that provides: the owner of a particular copy or phonorecord lawfully made under this title, or any person authorized by such owner, is entitled, without the authority of the copyright owner, to sell or otherwise dispose of the possession of that copy or phonorecord."
There are basically 4 rules to the First Sale Doctrine:
1) The copy was lawfully made with the authorization of the copyright owner.
2) Ownership of the copy was initially transferred under the copyright owner's authority.
3) The Seller is a lawful owner of the copy in question.
4) The Seller’s use implicates the distribution right only; not the reproduction of the material.
So as long as the stuff isn't a reproduction, it should be covered under the First Sale Doctrine, same as a CD or a DVD. Or am I wrong?

I'm kind of bummed that he's been collecting this stuff for 10 to 25 years and this is his first post. Think of all the knowledge we've missed out on!
So, what are the top 10 superheroine peril vids in your collection and why are they the best IYO?
And yes, it's not legal.

By virtue of it being digital media you don't have any legal rights or protections for any of the content contained therein. I would strongly advise against selling it.

Okay, I will not sell it.
I'll just pitch it.
My wife has given me an ultimatum. Get rid of all of it or else!
So, I'm getting rid of all of it.
I didn't mean to cause any trouble. Like I said, I've been a supporter of this genre from way back before Rye was working with Double Trouble Productions. Even before Dano was inventing Butterscotch Fox. Over the years I've seen some really great stuff and some so so stuff. Rye, I've always loved your stuff, btw. You are one of the best.
I have been a long time lurker to this site and up until a few days ago I was a regular contributor to the forum called "Heroine Movies". I even wrote the review for that site about the very recent Heroine Legends Movies starring Vega. Over the years I've order dozens of customs from at least half a dozen producers. Some have been awesome, some have been terrible.
But I'm giving up the entire genre. So, I say farwell to you all.

Marriage trouble? Due to superheroine fetish? I am actually a trained mental health counselor if you are interested. Yes I have worked on couple's counseling before.

Interesting topic though. How a fetish can affect real life relationships. Be great to know how everyone deals with that aspect of it. For me, the Mrs kind of knows but isn't interested herself. Although I doubt she like the though of me fantasising over imaginary women or women portraying imaginary women, I guess she just accepts the fact that it's fantasy and that I as an individual am entitled to like what I want, within the confines of the law
I guess there have been times in our relationship where fantasy has become a nicer thought than the actual (especially within a monogomous relationship of 15 years) but I guess as long as it doesn't get too out of hand, you're safe.

My wife knows I like super gilrs and we even own a cheap super girl costume. She tells me me she hates when I watch this stuff cause she figures " if im watching other girls in these costumes when she does it for me why should she bother". In other words she's jealous of the models. Another thing is she doesn't know about the peril aspect of it. I don't think she would ever understand that it's not just about hot girls in super heroine costumes either stripping out of them or havig sex in them. I'm scared if she found out I like the videos I do, (lexx files shadow strangler, punshed heroine stuff, commic bool strips etc.) she would think I was some freak-show rapist and that's obviously not the case. I dont think there is anything wrong with this fetish cause it is FANTASY. I have been caught b4 but fortunately it was stuff I can play off as porn in superheroine outfits. I don't know if I could explain liking lexx files to her. Lol.
This is one of the reasons I don't hook up. Sooner or later it'll be her or what I do. Now that I actually make some income doing what I do I really can't afford to give that up. Luckily I'm one of those guys who can fly below the radar pretty easily.

I have yet to release my video yet, but as a computer programmer and person who has otherwise dealt with digital media, technically you don't own your DVD's, CD's, or anything of the sort.
You own the license to use them.
You don't own your Xbox, PS3, none of it. The laws and ULAs have changed due to piracy and to cut this rant short, the digital videos you have are only for your viewing.
You did not buy rights to distribute them, there for you only have rights to watch them.
If they are sold it will be highly illegal and if you Google the possible fines and punishment, you will see it's not at all worth any price you will receive for this hard drive.
It's your call, but I for one submit that the hard work of these individuals should not be distributed in this manor.

It is illegal to do, but it is a key contension with copywrite law.
I'd wager there's material from a wide range of producers on said disk - likelyhood of getting sued by all of them? Low-none.
Also if you don't mention which producers content is on said disk how will they know?
It's a question of the value of selling it. You see it in business all the time, large companies take the hit and "pirate" another company's product.
The most public battle of this kind recently would be Apple-Samsumg.
Ultimately it comes down to our copywrite laws being archaic, and not keeping up with modern technology and communication.
I put it to the producers, this sort of thing is only going to get more common - start looking for new disribution methods.
No. 1 of these would be streaming - particularly now bandwidth is starting to catch up and make it a possibility.
Since the users don't own it anyway, why not? - could even make it a subscription thing like Netflix or Sky.

Interesting, I never realized that with PS3, Xbox, etc. and it doesn't seem to really bother people since Ebay is full of used ones for sale by owner.Dr.Morticus wrote:I have yet to release my video yet, but as a computer programmer and person who has otherwise dealt with digital media, technically you don't own your DVD's, CD's, or anything of the sort.

I did not either. When the "Ban Hammer" came down on modded Xboxes, currupting hard dives and removing internet abilities, it had become clear. Read the ULA. Sony itself battled against people selling there games to Places like GameStop. Why do you think everything is going didgital?RedMountain wrote:Interesting, I never realized that with PS3, Xbox, etc. and it doesn't seem to really bother people since Ebay is full of used ones for sale by owner.Dr.Morticus wrote:I have yet to release my video yet, but as a computer programmer and person who has otherwise dealt with digital media, technically you don't own your DVD's, CD's, or anything of the sort.

Jobber Lover,
That's a bummer. What about a Safe Deposit box under your own name? Cause it won't end there. All women try to do this, get rid of all your porn OR ELSE. After you do this, she will be riding you for God knows what else until she makes you absolutely miserable then you will want to leave her.
That would be like if a guy said, to her "Get ride or ALL 200 pairs of your shoes and keep ONLY the ones you wear a lot" which would leave her about 7 pairs of shoes.
Men are wired differently then women. When are they EVER going to understand this?

That's cause it's not true. Not in the USA anyway. It is legal to sell used PS3 consoles and games, Xbox consoles and games, DVD movies, audio CDs, used books, etc. (It's what Jobber was going to do, but now isn't going to do, that's not legal.)RedMountain wrote:Interesting, I never realized that with PS3, Xbox, etc. and it doesn't seem to really bother people since Ebay is full of used ones for sale by owner.Dr.Morticus wrote:I have yet to release my video yet, but as a computer programmer and person who has otherwise dealt with digital media, technically you don't own your DVD's, CD's, or anything of the sort.

Correct. Gamestop could not sell pre-owned games if it was illegal.

I know that it is not currently against the law to sell hard copies of digital material. However, according to the ULA agreement, which everyone has agreed to upon purchasing the content, it is clearly stated it breaks that agreement (there for terminating your right to have said content). Either way, it does not really concern me, I just have had first hand experience with it. Do I feel its fair? No. Once you have bought something you should own the rights to resell it. Do I understand why it's frowned upon? Yes, because it is impossible to control whether or not people make copies and sell them, or actually sell the only copy they have.Mr. X wrote:Correct. I am not stating this to argue, or to cause any sort of scene for that matter. It is just my understanding of the subject and more or less a warning. None of my hard work is currently at stake in the world. Not yet anyhow, but I can say I sympathize with those that wish to protect their work.

Dr M's quite right, the games publishers are constantly battling pre-owned games - to the extent you cannot sell on some games at all.
However what the publishers aren't taking into account is the amount the overall gaming market will be damaged by the loss of pre-owned games.
Of course this is totally different to media on a drive, of which re-sale is strictly prohibited, but it does raise a valid point about combatting piracy.
It's up to producers to protect their content, and the best way to do this is to make it more difficult to make copies. There'll always be hardcore pirates, but those aren't part of the market anyway.
Make it hard for the average joe to pirate, and they'll just buy the content or subscribe to a service - alot like Netflix or Lovefilm in the mainstream.

Having worked for Sony I do know they are trying to crack down on resales by tying your copy to your machine through their registration service so it can never be sold. Even if you sell the dvd it cannot be played on another machine.

Honestly for as bad as the gaming companies rip off their loyal customers by putting out 70% finished **** for $60 and then patching the games to "fix" them over several months, they shouldn't have anything to complain about with us wanting to sell our games back. I wouldn't mind them going to a system where the game is tied to your machine, but in order for that to happen they need to actually finish a game before releasing it or drop the price to $30, have been burned way too many times by full priced games that are garbage at release.

I agree. What seems to upset me even more that a glitched game, is when you pay $60 for a game that you beat in a day or two. I always wondered why big block buster movies were $20 and a video game was $60. Recently I figured that out through my current trek into CGI. The trouble is CGI takes a LOT of time and hard work. Video games truly take more effort than movies do, seeing as most modern games have actors (voice) as well as a movie worthy story line. I wish they cost less, but I can see them only going up in the future as the technology improves.

I wanted to say, I think if it's something your wife can't accept then maybe you shouldn't be with her?
I always felt really uncomfortable about my fetish for superheroine/peril stuff. I dated someone for a long, long time and never even told them, though I view it regularly. My current relationship has been going on for a few years, and late in the first year of dating, I felt compelled (and possibly drunk enough) to tell her about it. She totally embraced it (even though I was really freaked out about telling her) and has gone as far as buying some costumes and roleplaying with me.
What I'm saying is that someone who truly loves you won't judge you for things like this. They won't try to make you get rid of all of your porn. They'll embrace and accept you for who you are. That's what love is.
This probably seems odd coming from a guy who rarely posts here so... /endrant.

/endrant.
Anyone with such a large collection is definitely a fan of this genre. If this fetish has appealed to you for a few decades, it's going to be with you for life. Throwing out (or trying to sell) an extensive collection of videos won't make the desire go away. If anything, it just means your significant other has giant red boots to fill. And that can cause much resentment in the long run, on the part of both parties.
This site isn't a relationship-advice site, but I'm just going to throw this out there: if your spouse doesn't respect your sexual desires, you're going to be miserable. I'm hoping that she will at least roleplay with the OP, and that her hatred of the porn is just due to her not wanting him to look at other women in the abstract. If she's capable of fulfilling his superheroine fantasies, then I suppose things might not be absolutely terrible. But I suspect that even that may be a bridge too far.
Love often involves a willingness to sacrifice for the one you love, but it should also include an unconditional acceptance of your partner's unique quirks and oddities. If she has a problem with your interest in superheroines, OP, I question whether you're in a healthy relationship. I've never met you or her, so I can't judge. But I'm seeing red flags around this post. If she won't let you be who you really are, and won't let you enjoy what you really enjoy, are you sure she deserves you?
