Heroine Rating: Calista 10/10

The latest film from Rye-UK is an eye candy fest for lovers of gorgeous superheroines and certain fetish elements.

The story follows Calista the Amazon, sister of Wondrous Woman, who fills in for her sister on a charity calendar shoot.

While at the shoot, Calista faces a possessed photographer and beats him only to discover that Joe Kensington (remember him from Tears of the Falcon?) and his hoods are after her and they have a superpower inducing gel (remember that from Villains United UK?) to help them. I like how Rye ties his films together with re-appearing characters and items.

Jaime-Leigh Paley looks simply fantastic in the Wonder Woman costume and, as always, the camera angles show her body off in a most agreeable way. The film contains many of the Wonder Woman iconic moves…spinning around to change from civilian clothes into the costume, using the lasso of truth on villains, deflecting bullets with her bracelets. Any fan of this type of heroine is well-catered for here.

Fetish fans are also given a treat with this film as Calista as the film lingers on a number of fetish scenes…particularly when Calista is chloroformed, bear hugged, and choked out with her own power belt.

Without giving any of the story away, the heroine is involved in a number of fights, the last with a muscle-bound villain called Mercy who throat lifts Calista, bear hugs her, and lifts her in a gorilla press that turns into a back-breaker.

There is also a scene of Calista in full suspension bondage over a vat of bubbling acid.

Eye of the Beholder is heavy with peril and will please anyone into defeated heroines (note the reference by the photographer to the Punished Heroines website, another Rye “in-joke”), chloro, bear hugs, or just an amazingly beautiful heroine facing strong opponents.

Highly recommended. 10 out of 10.
